Title: 82. Anything for You (The Boy Next Door Series)

82. Anything For You
Arthur is not ready when Merlin jumps onto his arms, gluing her lips to his, but he’s not complaining. It’s the biggest show of affection she had ever demonstrated in public.
“I don’t know what you did, but it worked. Will is talking to me again.” Merlin beams down at him, happier than Arthur had seen her lately.
He grins back at her, still holding her firmly against his chest; her feet are even dangling a few inches from the ground.
“I told you to trust me.”
Merlin pecks him on the lips.
“Yes, you did. I’m sorry if I was doubtful.”
“You’re forgiven.” Arthur says with a smirk, finally putting her down. His arms were beginning to ache.
“We’re going to catch a movie. Maybe this time things go well.”
“It will. I’m sure of it.”
“Thank you, Arthur. I really appreciate what you did; especially because I know you’re not particularly fond of Will.”
“You like him, that’s enough for me.” Arthur cups her face in hand and smiles. “And you don’t have to thank me. I’d do anything for you.”
He’s slightly surprised when the words are out of his mouth, not knowing exactly where they had come from. Arthur had never consciously thought them, but regardless, they were truth and he would not take them back.
“And I, for you.” Merlin says with a big smile, turning her face and pressing a kiss on his palm.
Arthur smiles too, feeling ridiculously happy and leans in to catch Merlin’s lips. They kiss for a long time, only breaking apart when Penn shouts for them to get a room.
“I should get going. Will is probably waiting for me.” Merlin says, breathless.
“Yeah… and I have practice.” Arthur replies, still trailing quick kisses over her cheek and jaw. “I see you tonight, at dinner.”
With one last kiss, Arthur reluctantly steps back. “Have fun with Will.”
Merlin nods and watches him jog to catch up with his teammates, moving towards the field.
Things with Arthur were progressing remarkably well. Merlin couldn’t help, but fear that this was just the calm before the storm.
