Fic - The Boy Next Door Series 40/? [Merlin]
Title: 40. Soccer (The Boy Next Door Series)

“Why are we here again? We don’t like soccer.” Gwen asks.
“Arthur is going to play.” Merlin says with a shrug. “Apparently is my duty as friend to cheer for him.”
Gwen smirks at her and Merlin knows the brown-skinned girl is dying to make a comment.
“Ok.” Merlin sighs in resignation. “Let’s have it.”
Gwen grins.
“Sounds more like a girlfriend duty. And with all the rumors flying around…” She trails off in a suggestive tone and Merlin rolls her eyes.
“Just my friend, Gwen. Arthur is just my friend. Now be quiet. The game’s going to start.”
Merlin didn’t really understand much about soccer, only the basic (get the ball inside the goal), but even without knowing exactly what was happening the girl knew Arthur was one of the best (probably THE best) players on the field.
He was faster and moved among the other players with an unearthly grace. She shouldn’t be surprised. The man had been the best knight of Camelot. Physical activities came to Arthur as easily as magic did to Merlin.
In the end, Arthur made two out of the three goals his team scored and they won.
They were still in the field, exchanging pleasantries with the other team, when Arthur turns to the bleachers searchingly, shielding his eyes from the sun with a hand. Merlin feels herself flustering, especially when his gaze obviously stops on her and the blonde waves.
“Go on now…” Gwen smirks wickedly at her. “Wave back to your friend.” Her tone is mischievous.
Merlin sighs and raises her hand tentatively, a little embarrassed. Arthur grins widely at that and her stomach flips. Damn stupid, silly crush.
