Summary: Merlin turns around and sees Arthur standing in the middle of the room, looking around, probably wondering where to sit.

Merlin is thanking all Gods when lunch break finally comes. The last few hours were spent with Will quizzing her about Arthur after Gwen mentions the blonde briefly.
The girl knows Will has a bit of a crush on her. Merlin loves him with all her heart and she thinks he’s one of the best friends a person can have, but she just don’t see him like that.
Gwen and Merlin take their usual table in the refectory, mindless of the noise circling them. Will was nowhere in sight.
“You’re quiet.” Gwen comments. “And not eating.”
Merlin pushes aside her pizza with a sigh and grabs her water bottle.
“It’s just…” She sighs again. “I hate when Will get that look on his face.”
“His ‘why don’t you love me back?’ look?” Merlin nods at Gwen’s question. “He’s just hopeless in love with you.”
“And I have no idea what to do about that.”
Gwen sighs and squeezes her hand across the table. Merlin glances briefly at her with a tiny smile before looking down again.
“He knows you don’t feel the same way and chose to stick around anyway. There’s nothing else you can do. You don’t need to feel guilty for liking another guy.”
Merlin looks up with a frown.
“What are you talking about? There isn’t another guy.”
“Arthur.” Gwen says.
“Gwen, not again.” Merlin breathes out annoyed. “He’s just my friend. Sort of.”
The girl chuckles and glances at Merlin.
“No.” She says and points at something behind Merlin’s back. “Arthur. Is that him?”
Merlin turns around and sees Arthur standing in the middle of the room, looking around, probably wondering where to sit.
“Yeah, that’s him.” She turns to look at Gwen and the girl has an expectant look on.
“Aren’t you going to invite him to sit with us? He’s new, you know? He doesn’t know anybody.”
Merlin sighs exasperated. Apparently, she isn’t going to be able to keep Arthur away from Gwen for long.
She turns around again to wave the blonde over, but he’s already walking to the opposite direction with Sophia by his side.
Merlin grimaces. Gwen didn’t spell trouble to Arthur as much as Sophia did.
