4. Welcome
Merlin stands staring at the door for long moments, holding the cake, breathing deeply. Now or never; she thinks and rings the doorbell, praying that either the girl or the father opens the door.
She was never one to have luck, so, of course, Arthur’s clone/reincarnation/whatever opens the door and she is speechless.
Merlin had hoped it had been a hallucination last night and that, up close, the boy wouldn’t look anything like Arthur; but she was completely wrong. The boy is the spitting image of Arthur; all blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin.
“Are you going to stand there all day staring at me like an idiot or are you going to say what you want?”
The boy asks in an unmistakable British accent, arching an eyebrow. That shakes Merlin out of her stupor and she scowls at the Arthur’s double. Apparently he was still a prat thousand years later.
“I live next door. My mom thought it was a good idea to say welcome and bring you guys some chocolate cake, I don’t know why.”
Merlin trusts the cake in his hands.
“So, welcome to the neighborhood, you ass!”
Merlin exclaims and stalks back home mumbling under her breath about reincarnating prats and evil Gods messing with her life.
