Lead the Way - Chapter 071 - At Night

Remember how I told you a few weeks about chapter 057 that it was one of my favorites? Well this one here is one of them too. Top five. If not top three. I don't want to spoil it by posting a rant before it. May I suggest that you read this when it's dark out? Or just close the blinds and turn off the lights. Let's go on the prowel with Prentiss...

Lead the Way - 071 - At Night

Ferocious. Insatiable. Merciless. Irresistible. She chose her prey, hunted them, profiled them, seduced them and brought them home. Once Emily Prentiss decided whom she wanted to try out next, she was unstoppable. She was arrogant, cocky, rich, breathtakingly beautiful and very aggressive. No one was ever taken against her will. It was impossible to say if Emily simply picked the right one or if they lost their will to resist once she looked them in the eyes.

As soon as they were where she wanted them Prentiss tore off their clothes, kissed them, touched them, bit them and pleased them. They could cry, plead, beg, scream or moan until the sun came up; Emily would not leave until she felt she was done with them. And she never was. Even if Tracey, Amanda, Kristie or whatever the Hell her name was, was reduced to a limp body she felt unsatisfied. No one could give her what she needed the most.

At first she had thought that the girl had simply been bad in bed. It happened occasionally; nothing to worry about. But it happened again and again until Emily could no longer deny that there was a problem. When Emily tried to prove to herself that the others were the problem, she came to understand that they weren’t.

She refused to acknowledge the meaning of this and swore that she would find the right woman. A woman that would make her orgasm, that would cleanse her of her past, that would give her back who she had been.

When she didn’t find her Emily became frustrated. She went out more often, ran through women with an incredible speed, never satisfied, already thinking about her next conquest while someone was still crying in release underneath her.

Emily became obsessed with the idea. She had convinced herself that once she would find release in the arms of another woman she could forget what had happened. She could let go and be herself again. Independent, strong, professional SSA Prentiss. She would stop missing her.

For every woman she seduced, every moan she elicited, every memory she made, nothing could wipe away the shadows of Jennifer Jareau. She felt branded, damaged and incomplete. She felt that these women should be able to see that. They never looked at her. They were as self absorbed as she was or they would realize that they were having sex with an empty shell.

JJ had taken her heart with her and never given it back. Now she felt as if she was rotting inside her own skin, losing what she had worked so hard to get and keep, left behind. She knew she was the one who had said the words. It had been better this way. This way she hadn’t been rejected. This way she was in control. Or so she had thought.

She had failed. She had failed at keeping away from her, she had failed at making her happy and she had failed at staying in control. JJ was still there. She saw her, judged her, pointed at her, laughed at her and turned her back on her. She went home to fuck her detective and she probably moaned and screamed under him as she had done under Emily.

In the harsh light of day she knew she was childish, irrational and self destructive. She knew that all she felt was sorrow and jealousy. JJ was not to be blamed. She hadn’t made the rules. Emily had been forced to apply them. In any event sooner was better than later. In the harsh light of day Emily knew not to be angry, aggressive or revengeful.

At night she made them pay.
