My apologies for taking so long to answer your comments after Thursday's chapter! I was at a bachelorette party on Friday and well... things were a little slow after that ;)

Of course I realize that Thursday's chapter was an episode chapter and really quite short. I'd like to think that this makes up for it ;)

It's kind of frustrating is still thinking of this as sort of an Emily or Will situation... the line "Did I really give up my shot of happiness with Will" or something like that to be with Emily? I guess I thought JJ knew she wasn't in love with him and shouldn't have settled regardless of the situation with Emily.

I must admit, as much as I love he quality writing and the new spin on canon, that I am still frustrated with both women. I just buy that they wouldn't have talked more by now. Even if the talk didn't go well, I think there would have been more effort

JJ did risk a whole lot to be with Emily and she's not being rewarded for that leap of faith. With Will she might not have known that full blown happiness, but at least she was content. She could see their future and with Emily it's just a whole lot of questionmarks.

JJ looks to Emily for guidance and Emily tries to keep her at arm's length to make sure she won't break her heart. They're kind of stuck in this vicious circle which is why this story is called "Lead the Way" :)

:D I was so scared when I wrote that :D But I wanted there to be a really strong sign that JJ is following Emily's lead who has no idea that she's leading :)

The week I wrote this chapter I read a Rossi/Prentiss fanfic. To my mind this is just wrong. I mean I don't even get Hotch/Prentiss, but whatever. Rossi on the other hand is much more like a father or an uncle to her. A skirt chaser, Italian charme if that's what you like, but just because these two have spent some time in Europe doesn't make them compatible on a romantic level. But then you have Reid/Prentiss stories and Will/Emily... And I even found one of Emily and that idiot guy from the SB-pilot. I really don't understand heterosexual people sometimes...

I just had to reply to the pairing issue. I don't watch stories to find the subtext between characters. I don't go looking for it really hard, but in Criminal Minds there are only two pairings which make sense to me JJ/Emily which is ripe for the picking and Garcia/Morgan. If I wanted to push the boundaries I would say maybe Morgan/Emily but I had a good friend like him. Dave/Emily never in like a million years would make sense to ne, but ten again I don't see him as a ladies man at all. Maybe I could if I found the guy attractive, but nope not at all.

Before I see Morgan and Emily happening (Morgan's line of: Don't mess with a woman carrying a gun - kind of stuck with me) before that (I mean they are so similar, that would just never work!) So, before I see Morgan and Emily I could maybe see Morgan and Reid.

And Dave... I don't like the slimey, gooey, Italian style. Ever. I imagine him letting go of your hand reeeeeeeeeeeeeally slowly when he meets you and wants to make an impression, maybe even pulling on it to make you stand closer *shivers* But Dave and Erin Strauss? Totally workable.

So we have Emily/JJ, Morgan/Garcia(where I can't help but scream Kirsten is gay! :D ) Morgan/Reid, Dave/Erin, Hotch/Hailey (good fanfics, sort of) but I think that's mostly it. Elle with anyone?

Oh I am intrigued why Emily doesn't want JJ to meet her friends and go the places she goes. This is sooo good
