Mom gave me a fifty dollar gift certificate to Vroman's Bookstore as a congratulatory token on completing "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Yeah, I know, it was almost orgasmic.
Anywho, I went down there yesterday, and I don't know whether it's the air temperature, or the smell of coffee, ink and paper, or a the sacred quiet instilled in bookstores (broken only by obnoxious middle-aged men with cell phones who shall remain nameless, mainly because I did not ask the guy's name), but I absolutely love bookstores. When I get my multi-million dollar movie deal, one of the first things I plan to do is hit the bookstores and stock up like hell.
I ended up coming home with an exact replica replacement of the "Midsummer Night's Dream" script I left at the stage during tech week (which I have been doing my best to fill in with the appropriate cuts and blocking), "Lesley Castle" by the immortal Miss Jane Austen--I'm pretty sure it's a novella out of her juvenilia, "The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins--apart from the fact that it's now a successful ALW musical which I own but have not heard, it's touted as the first English sensational novel, and it's nice and thick so it shall last me some time. But the crown jewels of this book-buying excursion:
"Cottage Witchery" by Ellen Dugan, and "Bonewits's Essential Guide to Witchcraft and Wicca" by Isaac Bonewits. Slowly but surely, my contraband Witch library is growing to the point that it may no longer fit in the plastic drawer stored (quite fittingly) in my closet. So far "Cottage Witchery" is delightful, and I can't wait to start the Bonewits. Yea!
