To use Naomi's phrase, closing night rocked my socks so hard they fell off! XD Everybody was so awesome, especially our leads, but even our chorus were so good by the end! Everyone was commenting on how cohesive it was as a show, how sharp the choreography was (go Candice!), how professional it seemed. It's hard to imagine that, just over a month ago, we were nowhere near finished and everyone was stressed and there was some serious fear that we wouldn't get it done on time.
But we did, and it was awesome. I'm going to miss this musical so very much. It's always sad being between musicals, especially ones with so many friends, because... my group, we love each other. Me, Swa, Lee, Ref, Cos and Chloe are such a GROUP now, more so than we've been in a very long time. And it's hard to believe Chloe only met most of them in june. But without our regular rehearsals, we're just not gonna SEE each other as much, around the stress of uni and work (for some of us) and exams and then holidays... it's sad.
And the rest of the cast, too. I mean, I didn't talk to all of them (especially the lead girls - although I had a lovely chat with Alison at the afterparty, which was nice, becaus we talked heaps during Encore), but they were all really good people. Especially the boys. James, our dear little eugene, who got so funnily smashed at the afterparty. Tom, AKA former brother, with his magnificent voice (still can't believe he's twelve!). Tim and David, who're just really nice guys, and both hopefully doing pirates. :) Tui and Barry, who were just so funny! And, of course, Danny, with whom I share the most amusing mutual friends. Hee. And the chorus-girls - Madeleine, my little replacement-type girl who was always so dedicated. Jess J, who was the most amazingly extroverted, chirpy, slightly ditzy child. Anabelle, with her incredible dedication to the show. Candy, who was so brilliant and so happy, even after dislocating her knee and not being able to do her dance. :( Everyone was so great :)
And I'm going to miss having an excuse to sing all the time. I think that's why Karen adored me, why they said i was one of the best in the chorus - I love the musicals. I LOVE the singing. And so why WOULDN'T I put my all into something that is, I still maintain, the most fun thing I ever do? I really wish I still did singing lessons or choir or something, because music is just so much of my joy in life, even though I don't have the necessary skills to play an instrument or anything. *shrugs*
But at least we'll always have the memories. And the signed programs. XD
Best moments, though?
*When my guys came to see the show, and they were giving us a standing ovation.
*Julesey, who bought me the HUGEST bunch of flowers. I love that girl :)
*The awards ceremony, and present-giving.
I loved this show. SO can't wait til pirates! But i guess, since we went straight from encore into grease, and hence I've pretty much been performing/rehearsing since the beginning of february, it might be nice to have a rest. :)
ONE MONTH TIL HOLIDAYS!!
