Because I've finished and handed in all my assignments, and for once I'm not working, and have a day off, and everyone else is doing it, we bring you...
So, like, a lot of classical stuff? I don't listen to a great deal of stuff WITHOUT lyrics... I suppose that's partly to do with the fact that I sing a lot, and so I like to listen to music I could potentially sing to, or at least listen to singing... it's generally my focus in music.
Er, yeah, classical... that's it. No, most of the music in my playlist (and indeed, on my hard drive) is instrumental music from games. (Though, I must say, the [I think] London Philharmonic [I know it was a real, honest-to-gosh orchestra] did the tracks for Xenosaga I so you might pass it off as classical.) But that's not to say I don't have other music.
I just find vocal music difficult to deal with played 24/7 which is what happens in my bedroom. Heck, if I could fit more of a selection onto a cd, I'd be listening to this stuff in the car, not whatever the local 70's-Today music station happens to be available in the area.
I sing along (people have been known to scowl and cover their ears in pain, though), but I tend to find vocals very distracting for everyday surfing, writing, simming, etc.
*nods* Living in a big, full household & all, if my vocal-type music wasn't being played, someone else's would be. I think, to some extent, it's what you're used to, because I don't usually find vocals very distracting. Unless i really, really like the song.
But I can definitely see why they would be. ;)
And as to instrumental music from games... I don't play games, pretty much. But watching my brother play things in the past, I've noticed they do have some very nice instrumental music. We just aren't very... exposed... to instrumental music.
Mmm. The vocal tracks I listen to are the type that tend to catch my attention and get me singing along (even if I don't know all the words). It's a hoot listening to me try to sing along with Origa for the opening theme of Ghost in the Shell: SAC1 (Inner Universe) considering that it's part English, part Russian, and part Latin.
Thus, I frequently lose track of what I was doing, though I admit, the same thing happens usually when I hear Omen, Omega, Theme of Laura....
Speaking of instrumentals, I'd be happy to share something with you if you were to drop me an email.
