In the end, it was a burning planet, almost as hot as their love had been, where the smoldering embers of their love died. And with it died Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Three Words, Old Ben Kenobi reminisced. Three words would have changed the world. Three Words would have changed himself, and he wouldn't be lonely, reminded of better days, a better love, a better life. That night in the bedroom if only he had said those three little words, that final night, the final words...
If only he could say them now, but now, it wouldn't change anything. Ben Kenobi disengaged his lightsaber, the memories of what once was, flooding his mind and his heart as he stood in front of the shell of what was once a strong, handsome man. He shut his eyes, letting everything he'd held back for the last twenty plus years go.
And through the Force, as he struck down the one person who could ever defeat him, Darth Vader heard the words he'd always longed to hear. I love you
