That's right, folks! The longest-running musical in the world, and one of the world most beloved musicals of all time - Les Misérables' is going to transition from stage-to-screen, with a release date in 2012.

"Les Misérables" is a planned British musical film, set to be directed by Tom Hooper (The King's Speech). The screenplay has been adapted by William Nicholson (Gladiator) from the popular musical of the same name, which is in turn based on an 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2012 for a release date of 7 December 2012 in 2D."

Cast Includes:

Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, a Frenchman released from the Bagne prison after 19 years of imprisonment for stealing bread and escaping from the prison.

Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, a police inspector who releases Valjean on parole, then later dedicates his life to imprisoning him again.

Anne Hathaway as Fantine, a struggling factory worker and mother of her illegitimate child, Cosette. She is eventually forced to turn to prostitution.

Sacha Baron Cohen as Thénardier, a thief running an inn and who takes Cosette in after Fantine can no longer care for her, though for his own monetary gain.

Helena Bonham Carter as Mme. Thénardier, the unscrupulous wife of Thenardier.

Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, the illegitimate daughter of Fantine who has grown into a beautiful woman under Valjean's care who is in love with Marius.

Eddie Redmayne as Marius Pontmercy, a student revolutionary who is friends with Thenardiers' daughter, Éponine, but falls in love with Cosette.

Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, the leader of a student revolt and a friend of Marius.

Taylor Swift is HUGELY rumored to play Eponine, the daughter of the Thénardiers, Éponine, now ragged and a waif, secretly loves Marius.

Besides Russell (amazing actor for the part, but I don't consider him a baritone from what I've heard him sing), Amanda (maybe...I didn't care for her as Sophie in "Mamma Mia!"), and the possibility of Taylor, the cast is perfect (I'm glad they got guys with live theatre experience to play Marius and Enjolras; especially Marius, because you've got to sing the shit out of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables", and if the files floating around are him singing in the Eton College Choir, he'll be fantastic). I've been waiting YEARS for Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway to do a movie musical, and it was worth the wait!

Tom Hooper says the movie will be approximately two and a half hours in length. The cast will have to sing the songs live during filming, rather than using pre-recorded tracks, and I'm already getting goosebumps in anticipation for "One Day More".

Who else is ready for the crying flood fest in December?
