long weekend

Remind me never to go a whole weekend without checking LJ--as I skip 250...

Very busy weekend, obviously. Worked at my parents' Friday night then raced home to watch Le Tour to see what dad alluded to as "something big happening", which wasn't Lance on drugs or injured, but Levi Leipheimer out with a broken wrist, which is, yes, big, but not Lance big!

The church board retreat went well though the damn reports still aren't right. The finance committee chair seems so relieved that they have a treasurer who wants to streamline and make changes and knows what she's doing that we may not butt heads. We had corn picked fresh that morning, and mom got a birthday cake. We were actually done early so I was able to watch Le Tour and doze before dinner.

I had a sangria, but it was with white wine and not red so, for me, it was probably much more enjoyable. I've never had one before. Then I had the special soup--sweet crab and apples in a celery bisque, omg so good--and a barbecued pork chop with corn pudding and snap peas which was also very good. And I had dark chocolate icecream in passion fruit soup on a cookie which was good but not great. Nothing beat the ice wine, though. It's $16 a glass and worth every penny. It's like drinking liquid gold or molten frozen sunshine.

Yesterday I skipped church, dozed again during Le Tour and went in around 10:30 to do treasurer stuff and try to fix the reports. If I could just collapse the reports in Quickbooks so that all the subaccounts are gone but their amounts are condensed into the accounts, it would be a matter of seconds, but NOOOOOO, while it's fine that we not see how much we spend on utilities or how much the DRE makes a month, it's completely necessary to show all the subaccounts on fundraising. I can't make the reports show subs in one part and not the other. I can see why the previous treasurer spent hours doing the damn things by hand in Excel, which I really, really don't want to do.

So, I got home and finished watching Le Tour and watched Eureka and Primeval and then went to Harry Potter. I loved it! Yes, there was stuff that was left out and I have to agree with people complaining about the pointlessness of the non-battle at Hogwarts (I mean, why were the DEs even there?!) but it was still wonderful and Alan Rickman was just glorious as always and I want to cuddle him. Plus Draco's all sexy and grown up. The recasting of some of the minor characters is annoying but at least Hagrid's appearances were kept to a minimum. Can't wait for next year!

Also, Narcissa was completely wrong and ugly but I knew this already.

Then I spent the evening reading old Stephanie Plum novels instead of checking LJ. And I forgot about True Blood. I always forget about it! Something to watch tonight since Le Tour is resting.

Well, boss is back and there's a pile...
