I hope everyone is having a good New Year so far! I spent the day in my jammies on the couch catching up on Batbooks and watching football and then like five "My Own Worst Enemy" episodes. (Speaking of Batbooks, I can't keep this stupid RIP continuity straight! Is it before Final Crisis? During? After? Did Morrison just go off the deep-end and set the whole thing outside continuity? Is Tim's head going to heal and his hair grow back? Do the last two issues of Batman make any sense to anyone and are they set in the middle of FC? What about the last JLA book which Batman is in? Is it set before FC? Is it Bruce? Or Dick? Or Jason? Or Tim? GAHHHHHHHHH)
Obviously I got home from Geneva. We left about an hour later than normal due to freezing rain overnight but dad had smartly put the car in the garage. Once we were out of brother's driveway the roads were fine and the only problem was heavy fog for a half hour in Iowa as the temp went up to 68 degrees.
Stupid weather.
Naturally it snowed the next day.
My parents and I had a much lower key Christmas on Saturday with the traditional eggs Benedict. I got absolutely no books or dvds or cds. True weirdness. I did get a guitar (and an instruction book but I don't count that). My mid-life crisis seems to be wanting to learn to play the guitar and refinish a table. I got a small guitar I found on Amazon due to my tiny hands. The neck is narrower than an adult's.
I also got new pots which I desperately need as mine are all burned, a Shark plug-in vacuum as I only have two rarely-used rooms with carpet and a couple rugs and hall/stair runner, and I broke my big vacuum cleaner, a pie spatula, a shoe calendar, and some little things. I have two "lost" presents. My sister-in-law got me the fashion in comic books book and it's missing in her basement, and mom bought me something in Scotland and squirreled it away somewhere.
On Sunday I didn't sing a solo because I just wasn't ready.
Back to work on Monday and not too far behind, nor did boss blow the place up while I was gone. He tidied my desk because he worked out there instead of way back in the bowels of the building where his office is so he could be up front when people came in. Apparently the phone barely rang and only a handful of people came in. We decided to take off Friday (tomorrow) and then I found out the courts were closed so it made sense.
And then apparently the courts aren't closed...despite the notice in the newspaper and the complete bafflement of the clerks at the court who just kind of shrugged and had no clue why it had changed.
Oh well.
So, I worked for three days and at night caught up on this season of Smallville. I miss Lex and, of course, Lionel. I kept wanting Chloiac to kill Jimmy. Nice to have Ollie around, though.
During the day, during work, I read Harry/Draco fic and played at HSU. So happy to be playing there again, even if I have too many men to keep track of and somehow added Severus. I blame the Nurse.
Last night, as mentioned, KU won. :)
I was thrilled silly with my two (yay) Yuletide fics, both very long and wonderful, and then it turned out one of them was written by an LJ friend, so even cooler! My recipient liked hers, so, yay! I'll post it sometime in the next couple of days. It's Elfquest. I haven't written any Elfquest since I created an OFC and shoved her into it.
Thanks to Nebraska's win in the Gator Bowl, the Big 12 is 3-1 so far in bowls. Tomorrow is Texas Tech.
And tonight I'm downloading the first season of Big Bang Theory. I caught about five minutes of it tonight and laughed my ass off. Outside of My Name Is Earl I haven't really watched a sitcom in years--just That 70s show and cartoons--so, we'll see. Of course, it's on normally when I watch a million other things.
I do plan on writing this long weekend. I have comfy new jammies and my lovely pink wrap to wear at my computer.
And I discovered I can wear angora. My new holiday sweater is 5% angora which I discovered when I checked the tag as to laundering it. I always assumed I couldn't wear angora since I can't wear wool or cashmere. Usually I can tell by touch if something even has 5% wool or cashmere but the angora doesn't set off the itchies! Weird. It's my one big contact allergy. I will break out and/or itch like crazy at just touching the stuff. I have no clue how I would have survived a hundred years ago when everyone lived in wool.
Oh, also tonight I got off my ass and updated my website. It's only been sixteen months. I wrote around 90 fics/ficlets in the time since, not counting drabbles and TEAOW&S, so I'm uploading 20 or so a week until it's done.
So, that's me for the last week.
