I really have to remember not to stay up until 2:30 watching Buffy Season 4 episodes...
I feel half dead. You'd think I worked all weekend. Instead, I sat/lay on the couch and watched as much Olympics as possible, occasionally dozing off and rewinding with my faux Tivo, reading comic books, and not writing one word. I didn't even take out my laptop. I suck. :(
And now I'm too tired to concentrate on ficcing.
I did watch new sports (to me) like handball and badmitten (okay how the hell to you spell that???), ignored the mens basketball, and groaned and cheered a lot over American performances. I avoided all news outlets in case they spoiled me and the only thing else I did was go to church, which I probably wouldn't have done except 1) I was reading and 2) the aforementioned basketball was all that was on.
I'm especially enjoying swimming.
My god, that relay race!!!! Best swimming race I've ever seen and it shattered the World Record (set by the US earlier that day, or the day before, god the time thing confuses me) by four seconds which is just unheard of!
And the gymnastics...well...
. Damn! Could anything else go wrong?! Thank god they held it together but I'm guessing only the two stars qualified for any event finals and the one girl maybe on the vault (and SI had her medaling on floor but then she landed out of bounds...)
But then you have that 33 year old German woman qualifying for the vault which has to be one of the feel good stories of the games!
Also, some of those Chinese gymnasts are NOT 16 by a longshot. Okay, a woman can be tiny but their faces are the faces of children. Our 16 year olds, other teams 16 year olds, look 16, their faces more mature. I would bet that one girl is no more than 13. Easy as pie for the Chinese government to issue fake passports! Cheating just irritates the hell out of me.
One thing I'm really liking is the cutting down greatly on the boring "stories". During the daytime shows there are hardly any at all--a couple Olympics news breaks and a couple interviews. The primetime show has really reduced those which means we get to see much more of the sports, and they're not holding off showing the medal ceremonies till late night either. Finally NBC is getting it right and not playing down to women viewers by thinking that all they care about is the human interest stuff. Well, not this woman. Give me the sports!
Well, have a lot of work to do with boss leaving midday Thursday for ten days. Probably should get to that...
