rumbles in the distance

Car insured--check.

Battery back up to sump pump working--check.

Storm coming--check.

*grumble*

While overcast all day, nothing happened (nor was it supposed to) so I wasn't worried about my car. After work I raced to the insurance dude and got the new car on the policy, then went across the street to some auto parts store. I've never in my life set foot in one. The guy found my battery for me and took it to the counter where I shelled out a small fortune, but did he offer to carry it to the car? Oh god forbid.

(Yes, I am a feminist. Yes, I'm a girly girl, too.)

Anyway, lugged the fifty pound thing to the car and got home. I then had to move the useless gym out of the way of the basement door since I wasn't carrying the battery up the stairs from the garage and then down the stairs from the living room to the basement. Dad showed up to "help" and kept asking if he could lift the battery for me and I was like, um, I carried it through the store, to my car, out of my car, down to the basement, I think I can lift it a foot off the floor into the plastic box, thanks, dad. *g*

Then I hooked the sensor to the wrong little knob thing so the alarm went off again and it kept saying it needed fluid though I'd asked the guy if it was just ready to go and he said it was. So I pried off the lid and, yes, it was full of distilled water. Dad and I pondered over whether or not the problem was the back up itself and not the battery and then I decided to move the sensor and the alarm went off.

PEACE!

So, I guess I can do shit like this after all.

I have to go to Target and I'm debating over buying a weather radio. I have a little crank radio to use when the power goes out but I probably should have something to wake me up if there's a tornado coming. Right now I'm thinking turning on the tv to a non-channel so that the alert will go off there, but that won't help if the power's off.

The projection is that the storm will be through by 1:00 and since I'm usually up till then I'm thinking not to shell out more money after spending $80 on a battery.

On a plus note, I did some research on betrothal/marriage customs in the 12th century.

Oh and The Other General Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott are making a twist on the Robin Hood story called "Nottingham". He plays the Sheriff, who isn't a bad guy. We're currently debating over who should play the not so good Robin. I'm wondering if Dar's ex will be an extra in this one, too. *g* Maybe he'll get "hung", Dar. ;)

Target is calling.

hos, weather
