Yeah, that works for me.

Well, felt relatively fine all day (relative meaning I had the sniffles). Tonight 100.4 fever and the chills. *sigh*

Good news is that I DID go to the doctor.

As usual, that was a comedy of errors.

I'm a bad doctor goer. For years it was a combination of my weight and no insurance. I haven't had a physical in over twenty years. Yes, I know, I'm a horrible person. Anyway, moving on...

I have gone to the doctor three or four times in the last decade for illnesses--twice for bronchitis. None of these times did I see my actual doctor, the one I last saw around the time Madonna was outgrowing lace gloves and neon. I've seen on-call doctors and nurse practioners.

This time I got an appointment with my actual doctor. True, I had to leave work an hour early the day before my boss leaves on vacation, but I got everything I needed to do done and he wasn't panicking, so we were good. Plus he wants me to get well. And he brought me a tv so I can attempt to watch the Big 12 tournie next week.

With rabbit ears, but that's another story. (Also, he brought me a stack of tapes so I can tape the KU games for him. *g*)

Anyway, I went to the doctor, happily turned over my insurance card, took the form to fill out because god forbid they not have you fill out a form every time you come in, and waited about twenty minutes. There were four other people waiting all for the same doctor (not mine) who was running behind. Way behind. One irate Swedish gentleman there with I assume his mother, when he found out it was another hour wait after she'd been there for thirty minutes, cancelled her appointment and stormed out with her to take her to Criticare.

Luckily my doctor wasn't that behind.

The nurse took my vitals, which I assume weren't life-threatening as she didn't mention them, and my temperature was, naturally, below normal.

I waited about a half an hour and my doctor came in. I explained my symptoms, she asked a few questions, looked in my ears, my throat, felt my glands, listened to my heart, and wrote me prescriptions. So far, so good.

Then she asked me if I was still on low something. I was like 'huh'?

Apparently that was the birth control she put me on around 1983. I was on it for like three months and never filled the prescription.

Then she asked if I could come in for the blood work I was supposed to come in for for some possible problem that's symptoms are irregular periods, infertility, weight gain, hair growth. There was no mention of when I was told to come in for this. I assume over twenty years ago. *sigh* I think it's polycystic something or other. The concern is obviously not infertility because I ain't getting pregnant now, but that it could lead to diabetes. She asked if my ankles swelled at the end of the day (and felt them--gee, so happy I didn't shave my legs in the last month *sigh*) which they don't, and which I assume has nothing to do with my possible sinus infection. I did tell her my period was regular now that I've lost some weight and, no, I've never been pregnant nor have I tried to get pregnant.

Can we get back to my sinus infection?

So, I got two prescriptions. Flonaise and a one dose antibiotic, and got sent over to the xray place for sinus xrays. Luckily he was still open for ten more minutes.

I assume if there's something wrong with my sinuses someone will call me but you never know.

It was nice to leave the doctor without having to pay anything.

So, I made it to the post office with ten minutes to spare, then headed to the drugstore we've used forever.

Flonaise, not a problem.

Zithromax, a problem.

See, no one ever prescribed it, so his stock expired and he never reordered. No one uses it because 99.9% of the world can swallow pills.

Unlike me. Who freaks. So, I have to have liquid.

Luckily I have the best pharmicist in the world and he called three or four other places and found one that had some, so, I got gas and trundled over there.

Then that pharmicist told me to take the drug on an empty stomach.

My doctor told me to take it with food.

*sigh*

I've learned to trust the pharmicist over the doctor, so I'll take it in the morning before I shower since I never eat until I get to work.

By the time I got home it was 6:30 and way to late to get dinner in before women's group, which is probably a good thing because by 7:00 the fever had returned.

Let's hope the drug works. I'm so sick of this.

I do have two Batman cartoon dvds though because mom couldn't wait until tomorrow night to see my hair and stopped by my office. :)

Also,

I liked the show after the first episode because I like that kind of show--immortal, historical flashbacks. Finding out that Omar is his son slew me. I now freaking love this show. John talking about Superman with his great-grandson was too cute for words.

tv, state of me
