A/N: Written for 60_minute_fics anniversary.
Roy flipped on the radio in the kitchen windowsill before filling the sink with hot, soapy water to wash the large accumulation of dishes. Lian was at school and he was off-duty with the League so he'd decided to tackle some of the housework.
Dishes had to come first, especially since they'd been reduced to eating out of the pizza box and Chinese food cartons for the last two nights.
A light breeze stirred the curtains and brought with it the sounds of the city and the smell of gasoline and hot brick and stone. It brought a smile to his face. Despite the dangers, he loved New York City. Most of his best memories were centered on this city.
The news segued into an oldie but definitely goodie, and Roy smiled as he recognized the song.
Yes, New York City held the best memories.

"And I, go to pieces and I wanna hide; go to pieces and I almost die; everytime my baby passes by," Roy sang along with the radio, hands clasped melodramatically over his heart, posture valiant and bold, feathered cap cocked at its most jaunty angle on his head.
Eyes sparkling and hand over her mouth, Donna giggled helplessly as her boyfriend continued to sing, over-doing it to the point of farce.
The grin on Roy's face, despite the sad lyrics, told Donna he knew just what he was doing, and she lobbed a throw pillow at him.
"Goofball!"
Roy stopped singing, but still grinned. "Cheered you up, though, Wonder Chick."
No longer giggling, but eyes still shining, Donna wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. "Thank you, Speedy. Sometimes I just miss my family so much, but you always know how to bring me out of my funk."
"I'd do anything for you, Donna."
Their mutual smiles turned into more kisses....

As he hummed along to the song and rinsed a plate, Roy smiled at the memories and made the decision to track Donna down as soon as he could and drag her to lunch. Being boyfriend and girlfriend was long behind them, but they were friends to the end.
"Goodbye baby. We'll meet again soon maybe; but until we do, all my best to you."
