early happy

because KU isn't going to beat Oklahoma State and I can't expect the Royals to keep winning.

So, I've baked two breads for holiday giving. I mentioned earlier the egg issue (also the steroid needing to do shit issue) so a three day weekend seemed like a good time to get going. I made spiced applesauce bread (a recipe I've used before) and then remembered I was actually not going to use that recipe but one with apple chunks and applesauce and I even bought an apple (which I can't eat as that's a no no for fiber while I'm healing the fistula/ulcers). So now I have five breads to make. I'll make that apple one and the pear one for giving to church for the next two months (whole loaves instead of mini loaves for giving as gifts) and then the chocolate coffee one I found as another gift. So that's nine loaves for giving as holiday gifts. Will probably need a couple more, but I feel so good being so ahead of the game.

And there's plenty of room in the freezer. I'll wrap them in foil to prevent freezer burn but they should be fine for two months.

So chocolate bread tomorrow after church (oh and I've already washed up and loaded the dishwasher with the baking bowls etc, a huge thing as I usually leave them sit for days) and the other two on Monday.

In the middle of all that I got a call from my brother from god knows where overseas and he'd gotten this message from dad's cell this morning that he was having trouble accessing and dad wasn't answering his phone so I got all worried and, after brother called back saying he thought it was a butt dial because once he got the message there was nothing but noise there, I tried mom's cell (because dad is SO bad at answering/having his on) and it went straight to voice mail. Panicked, tried again and got her. Everything fine, cell reception sucks in Southern Indiana and Illinois. She didn't even get my email I sent her at 11:45 last night about the Royals (which I was concerned about, too, as she would have responded or texted me, in fact, her first question was 'who won' because she couldn't access any news sites either). Consensus: dad butt dialed brother. Texted brother same.

The sun is shining in my back yard. :) It's still cold, about 65 I think today, but that's fine for fall weather. I was hoping tree guys would be back Monday to finish but there's a 100% chance of rain. :P

Another happy is that I got a nice comment about my OFC, Angelina, from someone who doesn't usually like OCs, which I completely understand. My latest fic for Dark Side Of The Moon ended up being from her POV, which I was trying not to do, but the prompt of "touch starved" fit Derek perfectly in this series, and who better to get him over it but his mate? Anyway, happy.

Well, should get some writing done and do laundry before the Royals come on in 3 1/2 hours. I stole a stapler from work since I can't find mine, so I think I'll staple all these articles and recipes I've pulled out over the last week while watching sports.

So much damn false energy/desire to organize shit. *g*

Now if I could just sleep through the night. Still getting up twice each night to potty, but more the opposite problem of two weeks ago due to not eating fiber probably. *sigh*

Last day of the horrible tasting pill, yay! I usually take it after breakfast but I didn't want it to spoil my coffee, so I'll take it after lunch--needs to be on a full stomach. Maybe that means by Monday it'll be out of my system enough I can taste the beer pear bread batter to make sure it tastes good.

The pumpkin ginger bread I made is interesting. Fine Cooking had a basic bread batter recipe and lots of possible add in/combos for you to use--dry and wet ingredients, spices, toppings. I kind of made up my own for this pumpkin bread, adding both ginger powder and crystallized ginger. The batter tasted good, hopefully the bread will as well.

Okay, enough for now.

stupid technology, stupid weather, family stuff, stupid body, holiday baking
