am i fooling myself?

I have so much more energy, with just three weeks of taking the steroids. Am I really getting better or is it psychosomatic--I think I'm getting better, therefore I am?

Well, the other aspect is definitely better; things 'firming up' and becoming more normal. The fistula is no longer getting sore and inflamed. I dunno.

Anyway, after only getting about 4 1/2 hours sleep (due to watching baseball and Le Tour), I spent about 90 minutes lugging branches around outside this morning and while I'm tired, I don't feel like I want to just drop dead from exhaustion.

It actually felt good to clean up the yard some--lots of little branches everywhere (one to three feet long). Two loads in the truck and I filled three trashcans as well.

I'm now planning to start cleaning out the front bedrooms of stuff I never sold on ebay, filling bags of clothes for Goodwill every weekend. Wow. Doing stuff beside sitting on my ass on the weekends!

Okay, backtracking a bit. Yesterday at work ended up busier than planned though I did get all three PLL eps watched while no one was there and I did actually hole punch and organize files while watching.

We went to dinner at 715 and I had a cocktail--the Monticello which was dry sherry, cava, ginger, something else and a sage leave floating in it. It was quite good and just sweet enough (the cava must be sweet as nothing else was) as I prefer medium sherry over dry. Sherry is one of the few things I will drink straight--it's a British thing. Then I ordered off the special menu and started with the roasted root vegetable salad which was good but I would have preferred the apple pecan salad with greens but I can't eat lettuce right now. Then I had gnocci with crab and corn in a light parmesan cream sauce that was OMG delicious. I wanted to lick the bowl. The sauce didn't overwhelm anything, it was just the right sized portion. I've never had gnocci before--they were yummy.

Came home and watched the Royals give up a 3-0 lead and lose at Boston. *sigh* Though it's great to see Gordon back after his wrist injury that kept him from playing in the All Star Game. Then watched Le Tour where the leader won the stage. I'm pretty sure everyone is fighting now for 2nd and 3rd because he's dominating. Even with his number one helper crashing during the stage and never catching back up to him. I just find it dull when one guy dominates (unless it's an American or someone on an American team--I'm weirdly patriotic where sports are concerned.) Maybe he'll fall apart in the Pyrenees?

I was up at 6:30 to go to market and got a call from dad that mom wasn't feeling well and they'd both been awake most of the night (something she ate but probably not from last night as it hit too quickly), so no market. I stayed up anyway and started watching Le Tour and waited for my boss who got here about 10:30. By the time my dad got into town, boss was already done chainsawing. *g*

I spent some time talking to my neighbors about the trees coming out and yard work and health issues making it so hard for me to do much. I really have never talked to them much; nice people. They boat and have a corgi. And after he retired, he became an RN so if I ever have a medical emergency...

Le Tour today, leader came in second on another mountain top stage. *sigh* So he gained more time on everyone. A big surprise was Valverde, the guy in second, cracking in the last couple K. He's still in second but lost around two minutes. Not as bad as Porte who lost like ten minutes yesterday--not surprising; you don't just throw a helper guy into the leadership roll. Our guy, Tejay, did well both days, losing only to the overall leader but he moved up to 5th overall thanks to Porte's collapse. Unfortunately the two young French guys in front of him are still doing well. Tejay did especially well today, only coming in about 30 seconds after the leader after breaking away from the Peloton for the last couple K (which may have contributed to Valverde's cracking).

Maybe tomorrow's crosswinds will wipe the young French guys out. The Pelonton can just split to pieces in them. Then, after Monday off, we have three days in the Pyrenees. Unfortunately, Tejay does better in the Alps (which he did) as the climbs aren't usually as steep.

Afterwards I worked more on cleaning up my music library to get rid of duplicates and Christmas music. Now I'm going to go make dinner and watch the Royals and hopefully write some ficcies.

I can't believe we're already having Yuletide discussions. *g*

food, yardwork sucks, le tour, royals, health, feeling so much better
