technology sucks part 2
Gah, whatever was in that Win 7 update yesterday totally fucked my work computer! Programs kept freezing, I had a couple blue screens of death, all of Windows would just disappear. By the end of the day yesterday I basically couldn't keep more than one program running at once, if I was lucky. I shut off the computer overnight hoping it would help. It didn't. Hell, I couldn't even access the volume control to take it off mute!
Finally I went into safe mode and did a system restore for before the update and, so far so good...
I hate doing that, making those kinds of changes to a computer, but I was getting desperate. It's Friday. I have tons to do on Fridays! I can't have the computer dude here all day.
Also weird is that the update happened in the middle of the night on Thursday morning and the problems really didn't start till late afternoon. Like it struggled all day and finally gave up the ghost or something.
My laptop at home did the update last night so we'll see if I have the same problems tonight. It was fine after the update but then so was this computer for several hours. At least system restore doesn't wipe out changes to files as my back up is from over a week ago. I was going to try to back up again in case the computer just died completely but I wasn't sure I could even manage that much.

In other news, I wrote my first full length fic for Fullmoon Ficlet (they added the option of writing over 1700 words for the prompt or just up to a 1000 because a lot of people, me included, were going over the 1000 word limit). Depressing miscarriage fic.
I'm leaning more and more to making this ABO fic my Teen Wolf Big Bang. It's over 5K right now and nowhere near done. The issue I have with it is...it's not DARK! It was supposed to be Stiles miserable, Peter kind of 'I'm the Alpha, will fuck you now, don't care if you don't want it, I want kids' etc. Instead, they're having a pleasant dinner and talking about how neither of them are stereotypical for their genders. *head desk*
Another ficlet I wrote for Trope Bingo that actually wasn't 'cuz I had the trope wrong was a genderswap Stiles/Peter that people have asked me to continue. Maybe I'll try to make that dark...
People are going to think I have a brain disorder or something if I start writing long fic fluff for god's sake! lolol
Royals completely sucked last night. I was writing while watching them and gave up on them in the 7th inning when it was 14-2. Just...wow...they could not stop Detroit in the 6th inning. They scored like ten runs or something. I dunno. It was bad.
Le Tour was pretty dull as I expected it would be. Today's will probably be the same so I'll skim through a lot of it when I get home from my parents'. Fox sports, where I watch the Royals, runs the results around the bottom so I'll have to be careful not to look at that--hard, because my eyes automatically go there. I've been taping the Royals and watching Le Tour first but I'm at my parents' tonight.
Dad stopped by and got the garage door fixed. Yay.
Hallmark Christmas in July is tomorrow so mom and I are going to market and then running to Kansas City. I think, afterwards, since I have to go to the post office, I might get my car washed. It's very dusty and spotty. The 'get out and they do it for you' car wash is on the way home from the post office.
Life is so exciting.
I probably should rehearse my solo for Sunday, do laundry, write stuff this weekend. Really need to do laundry. Oh, and mow, but that's problematic since I have to sing. I might do it Sunday morning as the allergy attack usually holds off several hours. Except it may also rain on Sunday.
I need to start watching all this stuff I've done the naughty on, too.
I'm sure I'll end up lazing around, reading fanfic, and watching sports all weekend.
