summer's here and with it road construction

May 20, 2014 12:01

Well the day started so well with me punching a hole in my knuckle with one of my fingernails while hooking my bra.

Yeah, I'm so very coordinated. It bled.

Then, already late to work, I got stuck in traffic. I knew work was starting at two major intersections in town yesterday, one of which I drive through to get to work, but yesterday the attention was all on the other side of the divided four lane road. This morning it was a mess on both sides, down to one lane but swerving us back and forth from lane to lane. It took me a good five minutes to get through it and then I hit pretty much every other light red.

I actually won't be using the intersection much before I leave for vacay as I'm cat sitting for the next week and it's just as easy to go the other direction to get there as the house is pretty much a dozen blocks due north of me but in between is a whole bunch of university property to get around.

I caught up on 24 last night. Hey Lady Stark! I'm guessing this is pretty much all filmed in the UK. And I watched the final Warehouse 13 which was very sweet and got me all choked up. This was after watching the Royals in a disaster. At the end of the first inning we were up 5-0. Then I dozed on and off and the other team hit a couple homers. I woke up and we scored again and it was 6-4. Chicago won 7-6. :P Our starting pitcher sucked just a tad more than theirs did (one run more).

As I was exhausted, I got no writing done. *sigh* I did kind of figure out what to do for the 'metafiction' bingo square. Maybe I can write that tonight. I have my Mating Games idea in my head, too.

I'm behind four (after tonight) eps of SPN and I think I'm just going to skip the spin off one and go from there, catching up tonight.

Garden guy mowed off my mullein plants in the side yard. :( I should have told him not to. I want them to grow; unless he dug them up they'll come back, though. He also dug up the out of control bushes at the mailbox and down by the neighbors and put down grass seed there. Dad knew he was doing this, but it was kind of a surprise to me. Also he raked up all the leaves which is good because I am really, really allergic to leaf mold. It's supposed to start raining tomorrow and pretty much not stop until we go to England so hopefully the grass seed will set in well. When I talked to him yesterday morning he said something about setting up a sprinkler on a timer but he didn't do that. Maybe he'll do that today. The tree still needs to go in, so he's not done.

I'm already tired today. Anemia sucks. Yesterday afternoon at work I was freezing. It was 73 in the office. I shouldn't have been freezing. At home, no longer freezing, I turned on the AC and slept with the fan on again. Stupid body.

I need to pull out the couch and seriously look for the missing memory stick. I remember doing the naughty to the Teen Wolf I missed during the cruise in the hotel the day before we came back. Since I had my mom's laptop and I keep those episodes, I would have saved it to the memory stick. That episode is on my laptop's harddrive so I transferred it when I got home which means I had the memory stick. Raine loves to knock everything on the floor so it's quite possible I put it on the coffee table and she batted it off and under the couch.

Or I'm hallucinating all that. Of course, even if she knock it off, it could be in the basement, under any other furniture, under the washer or dryer or down a vent. Luckily 16GB memory sticks/flash drives are not that expensive any more.

I also desperately need to do laundry or shave my legs or both. I'm down to short skirts--all my longer ones are dirty. I was going to do that last night but again with the exhaustion.

Well, I have tapes to transcribe...

stupid town, garden guy, royals, stupid weather, writing, tv blather, stupid body
