happy new year!

Wow, haven't posted since the day after Christmas.

Mostly I've been writing and watching sports. I finished my hurt/comfort bingo border, wrote a Spike/Dru story for Noel of Spike, and figured out what I want to write for fandom stocking.

Let's see, on Saturday I had a meeting to work on a service later in January on 'talking to our kids'. Sunday was church and I sang 'Do You Want To Know A Secret' and it went fine. It was our first of a pretty popular service in other UU congregations where people ask the minister questions. Usually people submit questions weeks in advance and the minister prepares answers but Jill had one of the seminarians go through the questions and choose representative ones and then answered them off the cuff. It went well.

The Chiefs, playing with the second string, still nearly beat San Diego (and would have if the refs had called SD for lining up wrong on the last minute field goal we missed--they admitted they screwed up; we then lost in OT).

Monday was my doctor's appointment and it went fine. My A1C went up slightly but doctor was still pleased with it. I lost two pounds. My kidney function is normal this year after being slightly abnormal last year. Cholesterol is fine; good is a bit low still. Feet plus is great, BP normal, eyes normal. Fast pulse, though. And I'm still slightly anemic so I have to have a stool test run and start taking a prescription vitamin for it. Mom is anemic, too, so maybe there's a genetic component. I don't eat a ton of red meat but I do eat it and love broccoli, which is high in iron. I dunno. Symptoms include high pulse, dizziness, tiredness. I have all those, plus I'm frickin' cold all the time.

Brother and nephew were in town so we all had lunch out at a Mexican place before going back to parents' where we talked politics and healthcare and all kinds of stuff while mom played Angry Birds on her new tablet and nephew put together some lego tank thing.

Headed home to make meatloaf and discovered I had no ketchup so I used pizza sauce. I only use ketchup on meatloaf. It turned out really yummy. Dad came over and we watched KU struggle at times but still beat a very good Toledo team. Next game is Sunday and San Diego State which is very, very good. We really do have the hardest noncon schedule in basketball.

Yesterday I got my nails done--dark purple--and went to work to do payroll and deposits.

Last night I watched one of the best movies I've ever seen--Hyde Park on Hudson. It was sweet and lovely and had this incredible light touch to it. Bill Murray was a perfect FDR. Actually, all the cast was well cast--especially in looks.

Oh, over the weekend I also watched the movie Young Hercules that led to the series. I know I saw it when it aired, I watched both Hercules and Xena and I'm sure I watched the Young Hercules series, too. It's too bad Ryan Gosling replaced Ian Bohen as the lead. Ian was...very Peterish at times *g* but so damn young and slender and young! His voice was higher, but the facial expressions were there.

Yuletide reveals are up. Since no one bothered to guess, mine were:

Air, Water, Food, Check...Condoms? Oops in Stargate Universe.

In Her Mistress' Service in Neverwhere.

Celebrating in Revolution.

Now I'm watching the Rose Parade and about to start ficleting for fandom stocking. I have thirty one jotted down. Let's see if I get through those.

It's supposed to snow late this afternoon, but only an inch or two. Not enough to use my snow blower on but still blech.

And I probably should do laundry or I have no clothes for work tomorrow.

diabetes, movie blather, yuletide, ku basketball, staycation, stupid weather, family stuff
