Getting lazy! Which is not good since I need to start cleaning so I can decorate in ten days.
Jesus, Thanksgiving, which is late this year, is only nine days away.
Also:
Holiday Cards! You know you want one and you know I want to send you one. You also know that even if I don't hear from you and I have your address, you're gonna get one. I went through my cards and I have 101 from last year and purchased after Christmas. I've ordered a couple more boxes and will get a new UUA set at church on Sunday.
So, let's see...Saturday morning I slept in and then baked pumpkin bread for church. Then I watched a miracle happen.
By 11:05 a.m., five minutes after the game had started, KU was already down by a touchdown to West Virginia. If you disregard the latter half of the fourth quarter and the refs giving them another touchdown and then our defense just not caring in the last minute, this was KU's game all the way. True, we responded to their first touchdown with a field goal (in high winds, so that was a miracle in itself), but then we took over. Finally, the coach stuck to one quarterback, the freshman Cozart, who doesn't have the greatest arm but can scramble. Sims ran all over the place for over two hundred yards. We had two interceptions we ran back and then scored on (one from the half foot line). It was beautiful. Broke the conference losing streak of twenty six games (three years!) finally.
Yes, this was one of our possible wins, but WVU played really well last week against Texas, so I wasn't sure.
The goal posts went down and into the lake. :)
This Saturday is ISU at ISU and we're the Vegas underdogs which is just motivation in every local pundit's--and my--opinion. We should win, but you never know with football.
After running the bread out to church and then running to my parents to take the brine and turkey recipe to mom and pick up the pumpkin pie recipe and milk she'd bought me (which I'd forgotten to take home on Friday and forgot AGAIN in the five minutes I was at their place because dad and I were babbling football) I spent the rest of the day reading comics and watching football. ETA No I didn't; see below, stupid short term memory failure.
Sunday I skipped church. Mom brought me my milk and then we went to an open house at a store we both like a lot called Made (everything is handmade by someone). I got a snowman ornament and a couple catnip toys. Good chalice circle meeting that afternoon on forgiveness, and then I went out to my parents' for chili and Chiefs.
Not surprisingly the Chiefs lost to the Donkeys but we did hold Manning to two touchdowns below the average this season. Our defense is real, especially the linemen and linebackers. Our offense is weak.
But, hey, even the Superbowl winning Bears of 1985 lost one game. Okay, I'm not comparing the 2013 Chiefs to that miraculous team. *g* Our offense cannot hold a candle to McMahon and Payton but our defense (despite a weakish secondary) could match the Monsters of the Midway. That was the first year I watched pro football and the Bears were on every Sunday or Monday (the only times games were played back then) so they were my team at first.
Anyway....
Yesterday at work was first not at all busy and then got busy and now I have plenty to do which I probably should get to.
I napped about 3 1/2 hours last night, missing most of the football game which I gather was a good one. *sigh* I was supposed to tidy up the living room because dad will be there tonight, do dishes, do laundry. None of that happened. I did watch Castle and Sleepy Hollow (as well as TAR and the cartoons from Sunday). The Horseman's identity, not really a surprise due to internet speculation.
So, anyway, I'll leave their house early tonight to tidy at home and get the laundry started and dishes done. I'm afraid I'm going into hibernating mode already which does not bode well for writing.
Speaking of, I got an assignment today with no prompts and had to ask for help. Usually I like working with little detail but I need something. I have a feeling they forgot to fill out that section.
Oh, I spent some time Saturday ordering stuff online and adding stuff to my Amazon wishlist. I wanted to order this really pretty red dress--knit with a full skirt. It only went up to 18 which is fine for my top but I wasn't sure on the bottom but then it was backordered to February and I wanted it for Christmas so that was probably a good thing. I did order some capri (for me, full length) leggings to wear under skirts because I have a feeling it's going to be cold next Friday for downtown shopping. It's only going to reach like 37 this Saturday when we're going to a couple open houses and the antique shops in North Lawrence, so I'm hoping they'll arrive by Friday and fit. I didn't order cheap ones from Women Within, but spent a bit more at Ulla Popken. Also ordered a purple mat for the inside front door, and some Christmas presents.
Well, boss is here on a phone conference so should wrap this up.
