College football, college football, yay!!!!!
So, been busy and/or lazy the last few days. Felt much better, no fevers after Wednesday.
As I drove home from choir practice on Wednesday night there were two deer just standing on the other side of the road like three feet from the car. Just standing there like statues.
Mom called me Thursday to tell me brother chest dialed them coughing and freaked them out (apparently he had a coughing fit in an elevator and hit his chest where his phone was in his pocket and his last call had been my parents' the night before). That was after his train stopped on the way into Chicago right next to a dead body. He was sitting on the other side but a woman across him started screaming hysterically. There'd actually been a warning that there was a rumored dead body on the tracks but the train went anyway. And then stopped right next to it. Lovely.
Been writing quite a bit in my new Peter/Stiles series and hope to write more tonight while I watch FOOTBALL!!!! Outside of March Madness, Fall Saturdays are my favorite time of year. KU doesn't actually start till next week, though. Some predictions have us actually winning FOUR games this year, two of them in conference!
Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.
Thursday night I watched the Chiefs--well had it on while I read fic and napped. They managed to win despite the first play of the game being our QB throwing an interception.
It was over 100 degrees yesterday. Blech. I was nearly out of gas on the drive to my parents' so didn't use my AC and for the first time since, I dunno, early July, I wanted it on. Actually got gas at a Conoco station. I'm very weird where gas is concerned, and it has nothing to do with the idea that some stations supposedly have "better" gas. If I don't know how the pump works, credit card paying works, I avoid them. Which means locally I go to the BP stations or the former Texaco stations because I know how they all work. Yeah, I'm weird. But I was afraid I wouldn't make it to the nearest familiar station.

Anyhoo, after winning like five games in a row, the Royals have tanked the last two. Today's game was actually on the MLB tv network which I have because Fox sports midwest had on football. I do NOT have CBSsports anymore. I know I had it two years ago, probably last year, too. This is problematic in that KU's second game is on it. My parents' get it but there's also a concert at church we want to go to, so dad and I may end up recording and watching it around 10:00 at night and me staying the night or something. Or I drive home at midnight.
Irritates the hell out of me. But not as bad as how screwed everyone in the state of Kansas with a dish is over the first game, the Texas game, and six KU basketball games. Due to a 'screw every KU fan in Kansas and Kansas City in order to attract I dunno money I assume from alums in big cities' deal with espn3, one football game and six basketball games at a minimum are only going to be shown to you if you have like TWC or Cox or live outside Kansas (and Kansas City) where you can watch them on your computer on espn3. In Kansas (and Kansas City) they're blacked out on epsn3. Luckily, my stupid cable company DOES have the games on a channel out of KC. Neither Dish or Directtv have that station so dad will be coming to my house for the games.
Basically it's a big fuck you to every KU fan in the state of Kansas and Kansas City. As someone on a forum said, obviously they want you to drop Dish or Google Fiber or your local cable that isn't TWC or Cox and sign up with them. My guess, a lot of people in Western Kansas don't even have cable access. It would be okay if you could still watch them on espn3 but, gee, greedy ass black out (plus dad can't stream so he'd still be at my house).
Again, I count my blessings I DO have this channel, but what the hell happened to CBSsports??
Luckily the basketball team is so good always that no more than six games will ever be shown on this network only a few in Kansas have access to and they're the two exhibition games and four games against teams we'll stomp on. Every big game and every conference game is always on the espns or cbs or fox etc. And the others are on the Big 12 network which we all get.
I spent most of Friday night figuring that out while watching the Royals lose, and then went home to watch the second half of the Kansas State game on some new statoin I get called Fox Sports 1 (again, no cbssports but I get that???) and they lost in the last thirty seconds to North Dakota. *snicker*
Yes, KU lost to them three years ago, but KU sucks. KSU won the conference last year.
Today went to market and bought a sugar free tart and some green beans. I bought some handmade Thai pasta last week and I'm going to try to cobble together a chicken dish tonight with those. Then I read fanfic and watched Game Day. *happiness* Then I watched the Royals lose again and it rained for like five seconds--there was this weird rumble and Elektra got all freaked and it was thunder. Been so long since I've heard it...
Now I'm watching Oklahoma State finally getting off the snide and beating Mississippi State 21-3.
Going to see Worlds End tomorrow after church and the Royals. Monday will be spent writing or I'm going to have to drop out of the TW big bang the rough draft of which is due in like three weeks.
But Stiles needs to confront Peter first about knocking him up...
