God it's humid out, all for little rains that missed us. :P Yesterday was a lovely dry heat.
It's a weird dichotomy that I hate being hot, hate sweating, except, I love sitting in dry heat. My car was 102 when I started it yesterday afternoon and I drove with the window down and no AC to the grocery store letting the heat billow around me. As a kid I used to love sitting in a closed up car in August. I think it must play into the fact that I'm normally so cold--this isn't new, which probably means the mild anemia has been with me my whole life. At fourteen, I wore a coat all day in school and my fingers would turn blue (I had been dieting and was my thinnest then). Last night I put the heating pad on my sore neck (I have NO clue why my neck and shoulders are huge knots--I've been blaming my desk chair at work and the need to raise it higher than it used to be for my bifocals but I was off work for four days) and my feet were ice cold.
Anyhoo, no dry heat today. Just humid. Blech.
I should get stuff ready to go to court before it hits 102.
Surprisingly the Royals stomped on the Yankees, 5-1. :) But, then, who the hell are these guys? Apparently $92 million is on the DL for the Yankees. I don't think our entire roster gets paid that much and that's like five guys!
Le Tour returns tonight but the next several are flat stages, boring except for crashes and the sprint finishes, so I'll skim through it. Need to return to reading comics as I read fic last night instead. Also need to clean the laundry room since I failed last night.
Boss is in KC this morning and then out all day Thursday and Friday afternoon. Yay. I want to get some writing done. I have some TW ideas spawned from last night's episode.
Yeah, you knew it was coming... (more coffee first, though)
I really liked this episode despite the complete lack of Peter.
I was pretty sure the hunter's license said "Argent". Of course I knew Gerard was alive but did not expect him to be wheelchair bound or for Chris to know where he is--bad Chris, no cookie. I still don't think he's the daroch--too obvious. Especially too obvious what with that motel being the location for the third set of three. Don't think it's Jennifer either.
Lydia and Stiles were brilliant throughout, as always. Both actors are very good at portraying emotion. I REALLY loved the resolidification of the Stiles and Scott friendship.
Also happy that the scene we'd seen in the Spring preview of Deucalion ripping out Melissa's throat was a wolfsbane induced hallucination.
Just when you thought Ethan was becoming a decent person/wolf, he went all threatening again. I still don't find the twins attractive. And his love scene with Danny looked...uncomfortable? I guess I've gotten so used to how easy Sonny and Will on DOOL are together, the kisses look so natural.
I find it interesting that Isaac wasn't the third werewolf targeted. He was infected, yes, but just terrified. He never tried to kill himself. Was this on purpose or something inside him that held back?
Unlike the vast majority of Stiles/Derek shippers, I'm not crying in my coffee. I can easily separate my fannish love from the show. Though Stiles/Derek may be one of the few m/m fan 'ships that could actually happen in canon (I still don't expect it to), I'm happy with it being a fandom thing and, on the show, the guys hooking up with women. I don't really understand the fans who can't separate their emotions and hate any female character that "interferes" with their 'ship (see every female on SPN). I know I'm in a teeny minority, but that's nothing new either. I think there's something off with my brain.
Anyhoo, not to downplay people's pain because it's their pain and there are already some good fics dealing with the Derek/Jennifer sex and Stiles' reaction to it, I just don't feel it. I DO think the sex was rushed. I mean, hell, he was still bleeding all over the place. Gross! And the power of love healed him? Yeah, don't think so. I think he finally let himself heal.
From what we've seen, I like Jennifer as a character. I have a fic idea for dealing with the ramifications--if, in fanon, Derek and Stiles have feelings for each other, a good way to push Stiles away is to get involved with someone else, and Derek IS pushing everyone away.
Anyhoo, preview for next week looks good. Always nice to have the Sheriff on. I would love to see Stiles be a suspect--there are a few fics out there about that--and how his dad deals with it. Maybe I'll write that, too.
One of my TW Heatwave prompts that was chosen was ficced! It's really good.
Read it here. A gen "Sheriff finds out" story. I love those!
The second prompt that got picked involved Peter--surprise, surprise (actually, I am surprised, though the Peter love is growing throughout the fandom).
Well, boss could stroll in at any minute...
But, first...Just got a call from a defendant--a poor mom of four who doesn't work and has a deadbeat ex. We don't even try to collect from her, just go after her ex.
She's interested in the house for sale my boss is the contact person for.
Okay, how the hell can she afford to buy a house????? Heh, caught lady!
