Yes, the timestamp is accurate. I posted my Perverse Big Bang at 3:07 this morning.
Why you ask? Why was I up at 3:07 this morning? Was it bad storms keeping me awake? Insomnia? Food poisoning?
Nope.
Baseball and a stupid new rule that needs to go away right now.
See, the Royals, already after a delay of an hour to start the game in St. Louis due to rain, managed, in the top of the 9th to come back from 1-2 to go ahead 4-2. For once in about 25 games WE came back.
And then it deluged.
And it forty days and forty nightsed.
And it poured and poured and poured three hours.
Used to be that games were just called and the leading team (after five innings had been played) won. No more.
New rule: if the affected game happens to be the last one scheduled between two teams, it's a called game and whatever runs the visiting team has scored in the top of an uncompleted inning are wiped out.
As we went ahead in the 9th, it would have reverted to the 1-2 score from the completed 8th and we would have lost our ninth in a row. We'd lost 19 of 23 over the last month! We NEEDED this win desperately. It would have been a travesty not to finish it. Luckily, the umpire (whose decision it was) agreed with my unspoken assessment and determined they would stay there as long as necessary (despite that crew working a game today at 1:30 in Chicago!)
So, around 2:00 it finally stopped and then the slowest grounds crew ever dried the field. It took an hour! Hell our players were out there lugging bags of that diamond dry stuff and rakes! Meanwhile St. Louis, obviously wanting the game called, didn't even emerge from the locker room till nearly 3:00.
Oh, we also had the bases loaded with no outs.
Of course it started lightly raining again, their manager kept protesting it was too soft and dangerous to play, but, whatever (and I'm sure if it had been reversed and at KC we would have been bitching the same) but they played. Naturally we scored no more, but then one, two, three and they were out and we won!
So, yeah, I loaded my BB fic. I'd saved it to google dox so I could do it at work today as I'm going out tonight, but no need. I loaded it at AO3, went to load the header onto the LJ comm, and when I checked the link back, ten people were already viewing/reading it. I woke up to one comment saying it was worth getting only four hours sleep to stay up and read! :)
Then, ten minutes after going to bed, my damn weather radio downstairs went off. By that time, I couldn't care less if a tornado was coming...
Also had to get up early to start cat sitting, though it didn't take as long as I thought so I got to work twenty minutes early. It's interesting how different people are. Other people I catsit for leave no lights on and you have to run from the front door to the garage door off kitchen in twenty seconds to disable the alarm, dodging furniture, and often in the real dark because all the curtains are pulled and lightswitches are in stupid places. These people leave on half their lights, curtains open and a radio on, and only lock the bottom lock on the door as it sticks.
So, here I am on about 3 1/2 hours sleep...
Yeah, that's going to go over really well. Multiple cups of coffee are in order, I think.
Oh, and it was a great omen winning as well because it was George Brett's first game as interim hitting coach. :) He was there cheering them on! At sixty, the man is still sexy. I hope just his presence inspires the team out of the hitting/scoring doldrums. We did hit our first homer (to tie it) in like a month.
I'm wearing a shirt I haven't worn for several years, though I couldn't button it anyway since half the buttons are missing (I have a cami on, too). I wanted to wear it with my blue satin sandals but they were pinching my feet, so I'm wearing white sandals I forgot I owned. Weirdly enough it's kind of pinching my left foot. My left foot is ALWAYS smaller than my right.
It's like my arms. Mom is convinced I slept on my left arm in the womb which is why it's smaller. The shirt, cuffs buttoned, pushes up to the left elbow. On the right, only half way to the elbow. Freaky body.
Really need more coffee.
