Thanks to Dar for the Royals icons. :)

I keep doing memes, but to be fair, I did also write 5000 words of fic yesterday.

So...

Basically, you give someone an age and they fill out the meme for where they were and what they were doing. If you want to join in, comment and give me a ballpark figure for how old you are now, or a decade of your life for me to choose from, and I will select an age for you.

cassiopeia7 gave me 27 (which was 1992-93 for those with subtracting difficulties).

I LIVED . . . in Lawrence, with my parents, in the house I grew up in. I may still have been living in my childhood bedroom, though this was around the time they remodeled the utility room/dad's study behind the garage (due to the fact that the foundation was collapsing--really, the floor dropped a good foot in places) and turned the study into a bedroom with a bath and off of it a sunroom which became my room. for those new to me, I now own said house, having bought it from my parents' eleven years ago.

I DROVE . . . my parent's car. I think they had Mercurys back then that they leased. I still use the same dealership and am currently leasing a Mazda 6.

I WAS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH . . . absolutely no one and not really wanting to be. the last date I'd had was in 1989, was with an ex-boyfriend, when he was passing through town to see his family, and two months later I found out he was married with kids. I pretty much decided men weren't worth it after that.*g* I did have a cat, O'Neill, who died a few years ago at the age of seventeen.

I FEARED . . . new experiences, change, falling, the same stuff I still fear. It's very difficult for me to do something new, face a new experience or something going wrong--probably why I plan for as many contingencies as possible. What's odd is that when something goes wrong, I usually handle it really well.

I WORKED . . . as a nanny (not live-in) for a couple on second shift. I'd been with them since the Fall of 1989 when they had a four month old son and a little over a year later they had a second boy. I adored those kids. I worked from around 3:45-12:45 (afternoon to after midnight) which worked great since I'm a night person. After the kids were in bed, I had plenty of time to read and watch tv and then I'd sleep in until noon the next day because I often stayed and chatted with the people I worked for until 2:30-3:00 a.m. It was a nice job--paid shitty, though, with no insurance or anything. I was gearing up to go back to school for my Masters which technically happened in this year, about three weeks before I turned 28. I kept the job the first year of school but with the 90 minutes commute and wanting to get done in two years and two summers, I quit and lived off student loans the second year.

meme, real life stuff
