For some reason I have Dolly Parton singing "Stairway to Heaven" on my computer and it's just about the best thing ever! There are fiddles and a choir backing her. Wow.
I have back up singers, too. :) The rehearsal of "Rolling In The Deep" went very well, I think mostly because the piano accompanying is really background to the vocals. I don't really have to follow notes because Amy mostly just hits chords. She's going to sing backup and then I asked the choir and Lisa said I had her at Adelle and I got a soprano as well, so, yay!
For some reason I can't get music to play on my phone. My ringtone plays but not the mp3s. It's really annoying. I have no clue why. And, yes, I have the media volume on high. The songs (including Rolling) that I downloaded are also in the Amazon cloud but I'm a bit wary of trusting these "clouds" because we saw what happened to Megaupload. I certainly save NOTHING on the internet by itself outside of these posts which I really should backup. Every fic that is on LJ and DW is also on my harddrive and a memory stick (or 3 1/2 inch disks) and most are also on my website and loaded through yahoo. Even when I write comment fics, I actually compose and save them on the computer before posting them.
Anal is me.
But, it's how come I have author's notes from fics I wrote and posted twelve years ago. :)
I am actually writing. I have nearly 8000 more words for this damn "5000" word fic (that's on top of the 5000 I had originally). I am about to move onto one of the last major plot points before the big ending but that's probably 4000 more words.
Whatever I have done by tomorrow morning will be edited and sent to my beta because I told her I'd send it yesterday. It won't be done but it'll be close, I hope.
I post on Sunday and it'll be night before I get around to it, I'm sure, as we have church in Topeka that morning and plan to spend the afternoon in final edits.
I have to do some baking on Saturday and there's this party for big givers to church that afternoon (pre KU game, really, everything in this town is scheduled around KU games--if you want anyone to show up, that is) that I haven't committed to yet, mostly because I don't need to be convinced to give and also because everyone will be at least 60. I was treasurer, I know what my friends and people my age give. Maybe, as treasurer, Lisa will be there and I can talk to her and we can babble about Glee and Adelle and KU basketball etc.
Today I testified for the first time ever. I've given a deposition and I've been in court on a traffic accident, but this was a first. If I had a bucket list and it was on it, at least I can cross that off. First, after a half hour drive, the judge didn't show up for twenty five minutes and then in cross examination a couple times I worried my boss was going to launch himself at the bad attorney in his frustration. His testimony was first and took about forty minutes. I was next and took about ten. Unlike my boss, who kept trying to give explanations to his answers and kept getting objected to, I kept my answers succinct, on point and the only objection was actually to our attorney's question and it was overruled so I got to answer.
I make a really good witness, in my opinion. No clue who won because we got outta there!
We got back to the office about three hours after we left (around 3:15) so the day wasn't totally wasted, but I could have spent it writing or singing Adelle over and over again under my breath. Actually, during part of the hearing, I had it running through my head.
It was very foggy driving back but we really didn't have the rain that was supposed to start last night (Tuesday) and continue all day, though it was enough to get rid of the snow that was still on my damn sidewalks this morning.
The second ep of The River held up well, in my opinion. Also enjoyed Glee--what a surprise that Mercedes sang what was arguably Whitney Houston's most popular song. I'm sure they didn't plan that! She was great, but I still prefer Dolly's version with the whores.
I think I need to reboot my computer because my mouse is not working with drop down menus or letting me move through my emails or click on links in email to open in the Net without dropping down the main program first. I had to use the down arrow buttons to pick the icon and mood here.
Well, maybe tomorrow...
Okay, back to writing for an hour or so and then I'm going to go watch Survivor.
