stolen from several people

Favorite Classic Christmas Movie: Miracle on 34th Street, though I haven't seen it in years. AMC was advertising it last night and it was in color and that's just so wrong.

Favorite Modern Christmas Movie: Scrooged. I've been watching that over and over on AMC (see above why I saw that horrible colorized ad). Bill Murray is just perfection and OMG that's Lionel!

Favorite Animated Christmas Movie/Show: The Grinch. I have a real problem with them showing it before Thanksgiving, though. I haven't seen it in years either.

Favorite Christmas Episode of a TV Show: I like the Buffy season 3 one--great Faith in it.

Favorite Reindeer: No clue.

Definitive Version of A Christmas Carol: The book.

Favorite Christmas-Themed Commercial: I don't really watch commercials. Did Coke used to make some good ones back twenty-thirty years ago?

Most Annoying Christmas-Themed Commercial: Any shopping ones that aired before Halloween, for gods' sake.

Favorite Religious Christmas Song: Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel is my all time favorite Christmas hymn. I don't have a clue why, it just is. It was the first solo I sang as an adult at church, hearkening back to when I sang it at fourteen.

Favorite Secular Christmas Song: In The Bleak Midwinter, such a haunting melody and lovely, lovely words.

Favorite Christmas Sweet: Frangos, the regular milk chocolate mint. I know you can get them year round but my grandmother always got a big box from her cousin in Chicago at the holidays.

Favorite Christmas Beverage: Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha, though I've managed not to get any the last couple years since I don't quite trust the grocery store Starbucks.

White Lights or Colored?: Colored though my tree has white.

Artificial Tree/Real Tree?: I went with artificial a few years ago when you could buy affordable ones with the lights already one. I'm allergic to pine but I fought going to fake (like I fight having a fake gas fire) but now I'm glad I did. So easy to set up and no hives.

Fruitcake: Gross or Yummy?: I don't like overly fruity cakes/breads.

Favorite Christmas Ornament: One of my parents' oldest is a red ball with a deer in white frost on it. Mom gave it to me years ago. I saw a new version of it in a store a couple weeks ago. Can't believe the pattern has been revived. Mine is at least 45 years old.

Favorite Christmas Tradition: I love so much about Christmas, I can't narrow it down! Shopping with mom on the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Service, baking and icing sugar cookies, Christmas not Eve dinner with crackers, decorating the tree, wrapping packages, singing carols, going to a movie after opening presents, and on and on...

Mistletoe? Yay or Nay: Don't care one way or another.

Presents: Christmas Morning or Christmas Eve?: I grew up with Christmas morning and, then, when my brother got married, his inlaws did a big do on Christmas day with their meal and everything. At the time (before church began holding a service) we had our big meal on Christmas Eve, so we switched our present opening to after that. Once my brother moved away and stopped coming home for Christmas, we went back to opening on Christmas morning. It was about the same time we started having a 7:00 Christmas Eve service at church so our meal moved earlier in the week. For the last couple of years we've had Christmas morning at my house.

For you, when does the Christmas season start? The day after Thanksgiving. I will reluctantly shop in November, especially online, though I didn't this year. Actually it starts when Santa rolls along in front of Macys on Thanksgiving Day.
