seems like forever

Haven't posted in a while. Not sure why. Just tired, watching too much tv, reading too much fanfic, recovering from writing big bangs.

Last Saturday KU won again. Dunno about this team, just don't. I was out with the fam that night but taped it. Tried ice cider which wasn't quite as good as ice wine and the most delicious risotto with grilled tiger shrimp.

After the game I turned in the Cas/Dean bb with all beta changes. I'll go over it once more this weekend and write up the notes. It posts on October 4 and the vampire one on October 6. I'll link them both from here to DW for anyone interested.

Dad's birthday party went very well. The wall of shame (photos) was very popular. Our choir director was there so we sang Happy Birthday. There were some kids so my nephew had people to play with. The food was wonderful--catered from Macellis plus cupcakes from Dillons (not the cupcake store where they were $2.50 a piece!) Then we had homemade banana cake and icecream at home for dinner while we watched my nephew catch a fish (about a foot long bass) and my brother fail miserably. Talked enthusiastically about Mad Men with my sister-in-law.

On Monday, back to work and tv. Nothing jumped out and shouted 'best thing ever' but I did enjoy SGU. I know a lot of fans of SGA hate it, but I think it's the best of the franchise. I do love the darker side of things. The people on Survivor continue to be stupid but amusing and TAR has the obligatory stupid couple, too. I'm behind and haven't watched Mad Men, Hawaii 5-0, Crim Minds and last weeks Vampire Diaries and Nikita. Or any of the Gossip Girls--I tend to watch these in big clumps. I didn't realize that "hot Greek chick" as Dean called her in the BB had left CSI NY for good! Did enjoy the intro of Sela Ward's character.

Tonight I'll be watching Bones and Fringe live and probably last week's Vamp Diaries and Nikita.

I've decided not to work Friday nights. I just can't miss SPN live. Just can't. It's not physically possible. *g*

The law clerk is no longer the law clerk as he's a full fledged attorney now. He's going to be successful, I just know. No student loan debt, and he saved up and cashed in his stocks (STOCKS!) to start his office. I'm guessing most new lawyers start with nothing but debt. If you join an existing firm, you can make it, but starting your own practice must be extremely hard with no capital. Anyway, today I tried to explain Quick Books to him and his girlfriend (a vet tech) brought by their rescue kitten who has only three legs and is just adorable and I wanna adopt her. Not the girlfriend. *g*

We have an actual male tenor in choir as of last night (I sing tenor because mom is the only other one and she's very soft voiced and can't sing alto) and not only is he good, he has perfect pitch. For the first time ever I was able to sing the right notes! lolol Once I get a song down I'm fine, but neither mom nor I have perfect pitch and we struggle to hit the right notes. Also this means that on songs I learned as an alto, I don't have to learn the tenor part. So happy. If we can get one more guy I can go back to alto permanently. I have a tenor range but my voice sounds better higher. Middle C is like the perfect note for me. I can easily hit the C below it but it doesn't sound as clear (nor does the one above it which is why it's the top of my comfortable range).

I've had the fun of dizziness all week. I'm thinking it's due to being very stuffed up from the horrible allergy season we're having. I'm hoping that's it, at least. It's not like fall down dizzy but just a tad light-headed when I'm standing or walking.

In other news the Chiefs are 3-0 for the first time since 2003 and we're all completely baffled...

Also, dad's gardening guy came and cleaned up the mess of weeds and probably pot plants growing in my front yard and bonus trimmed the trees hanging over the driveway so I don't hit my head (yes they were that low--for those new, I'm 5'2"). He also mowed down the buffalo grass in the tree plot which makes the yard look much better and may mean I can get away without mowing until this dizzy problem goes away. Last thing I need to do is make my allergies worse by cutting grass which I'm severely allergic to.

Debating over whether to have leftover (from the party) Thai chicken and basmatti rice, already made, or making lemon chicken and risotto which means standing over the stove for 45 minutes. I started to make the risotto on Monday and discovered I had no arborio rice. I have five kinds of rice in my cupboard and no arborio! If I don't make it tonight I'll be rushed tomorrow night before Smallville as I have to go out to my parents' after work.

I probably should cook tonight and eat leftover tomorrow.

But my chair's so comfy! *whine*

stupid yard, state of me, cooking, tv blather, family
