(no subject)
Less than an hour till the new year here so I thought I might as well do a quick post. Summary of what's been going on:
Health - Went to the doctor for what I thought was a sinus infection and was diagnosed with a cold, migraines, and a heart murmur that my other doctor apparently missed. I had a lovely week freaking out as I got an MRI and an echo-cardiogram just to make sure that was all it was. The MRI went great; I'm not a fan of small spaces but they gave me a towel to cover my eyes before I went in and it was a lot better than I expected. There was one part where the sound the machine made sounded just like hitting a coin box in Mario and that made me want to laugh.
The echo-cardiogram was another story. I wasn't too worried about it since there are a couple people in my family with heart murmurs and none of them have had any problems. It was really embarrassing, though, but at least I had a woman doing it. She did freak me out when a couple of minutes after she started, she excused herself to make a phone call. I was really afraid she'd found something, especially when she didn't say anything else the whole time. I don't think I slept through the night until I got the results back saying both tests were normal.
Work - Got a little raise, less than I was hoping for but just enough not to complain. Our department also started getting a lot of the work other departments "couldn't" do for themselves. We got so much of it they even considered raising the pay rate of our whole department because of it but I guess they decided not to since we haven't heard anything more since they said it was under consideration.
There's one woman I work with that I cannot stand. She thinks she's a boss even though her job title is the same as four of the rest of us and she doesn't have more than a couple months more experience than anyone else. I have never seen someone work so slowly or be so willing to make someone else work harder so they can be lazy. We recently got a new boss who doesn't seem like she wants to put up with her antics like our old boss did. Is it horrible of me to want her put in her place in the coming year?
Writing - I haven't done any writing in a long time but I'm starting to get the urge again lately. The only problem is that I have no idea what I want to work on - something I already started or something new, fanfiction or original fiction. I seem to be getting a lot of reviews and favorites on FF.net, which is funny since I've been inactive for years. It does make me want to do something though, which might get me to actually get something down this time.
Other hobbies - I have a friend who is a huge Twilight fan and an even bigger Edward/Robert Pattinson fan. She asked if I would do a puppet of him for her and so I gave it a whirl. I'm a little out of practice but I think she liked him since she wanted to know if I would do some of the other characters as well. Jacob will probably be the next one I try. Edward picture below:
I guess it's been an okay year but I won't complain if 2011 decides to go a little bit better. Here's hoping everyone has a great New Year's Eve/Day and a good year!
