The large and the small of it

As you can all see I've made some changes to the Journal. I've been very lax in keep it updated which is mostly due to the title.

Andrew and I will be moving to China this year. He was recently laid off from his job and we needed a reliable source of income. His dream is to get us out of the country and to experience new cultures so we decided to do the teach abroad thing. Of course each program we looked at as first options requested that you be a native English speaking person that was born in the country you would be teaching in. That made the selection process a little difficult to break through. China, however, will take you so long as you can read write and speak the language (not Chinese). So China it was.
I have recently been there on an orchestra tour at the end of last year. I loved the experience (aside from the cigarette smoke and not being able to understand anything). I'm very excited to see a new job market for music and hopefully get a gig or two around our city.
We will be living in Shanghai ( no idea what part yet) and will be bringing the cats with us. Andrew leaves on the 19th of this month (8 days!) and I will leave some time in May. He'll find us a place to stay for the first year and if we decide to stay on for a couple extra ones we may upgrade.
If anyone is looking to do any traveling to Shanghai or China in the next year please feel free to contact us and we'll try to help you out with getting around and what to see. I'm going to try to update more often as the date approaches for me to leave. Upon arrival I will be updating this with pictures (I'm going to force myself to learn cuts and picture uploading) and my experiences in a new country and learning their complex language.

That's about it for now. More to come later!
