I just spent the last thirty minutes discussing
Nanowrimo with a girl in work. I had been contemplating doing the "blog-post-a-day" alternative because even though I'd love to do the full-on challenge I don't think I have the dedication for a full 50k novel in 30 days... but, well, she may have talked me into it.
Add to that the fact that there is a support group that meets locally and the novel doesn't have to be good (just long) and I may be convinced enough to do it. I have a very basic idea about an original story I want to write but no real plot or characters outside of the protagonist and one other main character. Another downside is that I am out of the country for the first four days of November and even if I bring my laptop with me I'll have maybe one evening to write in that time. But if I'm honest Nanowrimo is something I wanted to do since hearing about the challenge three or four years ago. 2008 was meant to be my year for writing and I've done hardly anything so maybe all I need is a deadline and some people to keep an eye on me in order to achieve it.
I'm totally talking myself into this, aren't I?
::sigh::
