2. I don't often rec stories but everyone has to go read United States of Hysteria, Part I by trinityofone over at catenip (a comm set-up to celebrate sheafrotherdon's birthday). I'm awful at summaries so I'll use trin's comment of "This is totally the AU where McCain wins, isn't it? Let us pray it remains fictional! Well, aside from the John and Rodney falling in love bit.
