He went to the doctor this afternoon and has been diagnosed with Bells Palsy. The doctor wanted to prescribe steroids, which he said might or might not work, but having checked his blood pressure, told him he was borderline high and prescribed blood pressure pills instead. John has to go back in 3 weeks, by which time the Palsy might have vanished.

We went out for dinner this evening to celebrate his birthday, but he was uncomfortable drinking the wine and had to stop in the end, he was too embarrassed by it going in one side of his mouth and falling out of the other. I didn't think it was noticable, bearing in mind he had a napkin held to his lips while he was drinking, but I daresay from his side of his mouth it probably feels like a dentist has been at work with the anesthesia. Only this won't be wearing off in the morning - not straight away, at any rate. My poor lamb. I wish I could do something to alleviate his distress.

health, john, bells palsy
