A true gift from his heart - what made that hand-made handbook so special...

Lol!  I just realized that HS and Yonghwa have something else in common when I read one of Yonghwa's Korean fans message to Yonghwa telling him that she "would definitely wear a hoodie with one of Yonghwa's illustrations".  I have a hoodie with one of H's illustrations. ^^  Both of my guys love to doodle! ^^

It looks like that I am still very much hung over on the latest episode of WGM....  This is like how many posts in a row?!?  Three or four?  That has been a rare occurances for me of late...

What was it about that last episode of WGM that has me in a such shape?  It is because of that hand-made Handbook Yonghwa made for Seohyun as her group Girl's Generation gets prepared to make a major debut  in Japan.  I hope the translators and subbers do justice for that Handbook Yonghwa made because it truly is a very special gift - a gift made so carefully, so thoughtfully with so much care and heart and with all of his precious memories of his tough but treasured times in Japan with CN Blue members before his debut.

Shortly after the episode aired, a number of fans of Yongseo couple took time to watch and rewatch to transcribe what they can see on screen from Yonghwa's handmade gift to Seohyun.   What we've found from those handwritten messages by Yonghwa to Seohyun was simply amazing and most touching to the point of moving many of us Korean viewers and fans of Yongseo couple to tears.  Those were simple messages but filled with his momories of times that were very special to him and the special thoughtful cares for the reciepient of that gift, Seohyun.

It wasn't just a list of "information" about living in Japan as the title "handbook" suggests.  It was filled with his personal experiences in Japan and his thoughtful suggestions to Seohyun.  It was filled with care, humor, and, most importantly, his heart.  Whether he made that as a "friend" or "make believe husband", it doesn't matter.  He poured in so much time of his time and his own personal touches on every single page with every single word to every single pictures.

Seohyun probable doesn't need "a handbook" to guide her.  She is a member of the most successful and the most popular girl group in Korea right now.  Her group belongs to the richest and the most powerful company in the Korean music industry.  She probably won't even have to do anything on her own. Her situation is very different from Yonghwa's when he went to Japan last year.

Yonghwa and his CN Blue went to Japan as "music students", there to study music and get experiences in live performances.  Their company, FNC Entertainment, is a very small and one of the least powerful ones in the Korean music industry.

Yonghwa and his CN Blue brothers were basically dropped off in Japan with nothing on their backs except for their instruments, and absolutely no luxaries with an exception of one tiny bedroom for four of them to live in.  They pretty much left everything else behind in Korea, including their cellphones.  They cut off pretty much all the contacts with Korea. except for their parents.  They were there as starving students of music, not as superstars.

The members revealed in the interviews that there are times when they didn't eat for a couple of days at a time because they didn't have money to buy food.  There was a small convienience store near where they lived in Japan.  The owner would give them bags of expired breads at the end of the day at times, and they would that was their meals.  Yonghwa said, during a radio show, that they would celebrate with a bowl of ramen after a particular good day of their street live performances.

Day after day, Yonghwa and his three other band members must have hit the streets of Japan, sometimes on a near empty stomach, with a hand pulled wagon filled with their various instrutments and must have played and sang until the darkness start to fall and their amplifier that was charged the night before started to fade out due to lack of power.  Only then, they said, they would stop the music and pack up so they can rest to start another.

Those days in Japan may have been very tough times for Yonghwa and his band members, but it also must have been one of their favorite and unforgettable days of their lives because the members still talk about those days with such love and longing.

In that hand-made Handbook for Seohyun, Yonghwa carefully wrote down "informations" that she might need to survive in Japan, chapter by chapter.  Those informations he wrote down so carefully weren't any informations that one can get from the most expensive and most selling tour guides in the world.  Those "imformations" were filled with all his personal memories and experiences in Japan during those "music student" days.

Another thing that makes this hand-made Handbook so special is that every little decoration and ever little photos and every little pages are filled with his personal touches, such a little pink ribbon used as a frame for his photo taken in Hong Kong and those little drawings of "shopping carts" and "bicycles" that he drew himself.

A hand-made gift that is filled with his own personal memories and experiences during one of the toughest but dream filled times of his life and also filed with his own personal touches on every single page with all HANDWRITTEN messages...  How special is that?

All that alone would make this a truly gift straight from the heart.  However, what makes this gift even more special is that he made this while he is in middle of the gruelsome schedule, starting their first Asia Tour.   With all that is in that handbook, Yonghwa couldn't have made in just a day or two.  It is just too detailed, too well thought out, and made with such care, all by his own two hands.  I wonder if he carried from countries to countries during the early part of the tour to complete that book... The pages of the book were already starting to wear out before it even got to Seohyun, so Yonghwa must have carried it around from countries to countries during the CN Blue tour to finish it.

We all know that Yonghwa is from a very wealthy family.  Even though it was his choice to become "a starving student of music" to fullfill his dreams of becoming a singer, he is far from being "poor".  With all the things he has accomplished in this past year with a drama, multiple albums, CFs, modelings, and copyrights to many of CN Blue songs as well as his family money, Yonghwa can afford to get most expensive gifts for Seohyun.  However, he chose to make a gift that is filled with his own memories and his heart.

Yonghwa proved that some of the most precious and special "true" gifts comes straight from our heart.  The most viewers saw that and were moved by that thoughtfulness and sincerety.

I hope Seohyun realizes how special that gift is and how special guy Yonghwa is to have made that...  I also hope that she realizes that a guy like Yonghwa is very rare these days, like one in a million...

This is the one of my favorite episodes and the most touching  TV moments for me because of that hand-made gift by Yonghwa and the way he presented to Seohyun... without a fanfare or bravado...  but with all the sincere shyness and awardness of purehearted 21 years old young man with limited experiences in the matters of heart.

Many viewers of WGM in Korea thought that Yonghwa was very experienced in "dating" department because the way he handled himself on WGM and because of his exceptionally good looks.  As the show progressed, we are finding out that he is almost just as innocent and almost just as inexperienced as Seohyun when it comes to "dating".

Anyway... one of my favorite episodes and one of my favorites scenes (the hand-made gift giving scene) from "We Got Married".

*** Anther thing that made this episode and Yonghwa so special is that Yonghwa remembered what Seohyun said 3 months ago in passing and he did everything he can to make that come true for Seohyun.  Seohyun told Yonghwa that she missed wearing school uniforms and wants to wear school uniform once again and share that moment with Yonghwa.  It was during one of "Driver's License" episodes.  She also mentioned that she really likes "papbingsoo", a very popular red bean-shaved ice, with various fruits and other toppings, summer treat in Korea.

Yonghwa remembered what Seohyun said all this time  and prepared this "special event" for their 200th day anniversary for Seohyun, hence the school uniform they are wearing and the "papbingsoo" dish they shared at a local bakery nearby their "honeymoon home".

*** Darn, but seeing them eating that "papbingsoo" makes me hungry for one.  It used to be one of my favorite summer treat when I was growing up in Korea.  I always have to have one when I visit there in summer time.  I sometimes make it at home here, but it still isn't the same as going to a local bakery and eating that in the store in the dead heat of Korean summer.  ^^  Ah, the memories...
