Dear Yuletide Santa:
I always find it difficult to write these letters, so I apologize if my letter is not very helpful. Really, I thought mainly to collect my requests for you into one easily consulted post.
I love quirky stories with witty dialogue. Either slash or het is fine, although I don't necessarily prefer stories that are mainly vehicles for sexual situations (at least not in the fandoms I've requested this year). I like crossovers. I think strong female agency, queer representation, and POC representation are all parts of a balanced (read: good) fic. All characters are created equal.
I love to laugh. I like to look at established stories in a different way, either by tweaking a detail to spin the universe out in a new direction or by telling the story from an overlooked perspective. Or both.
I like well-done crazy mad stories that just take something bizarre and run with it. Surrealism, when done well and with intelligent commentary, is completely awesome. And just because it's intelligent doesn't mean the abject avoidance of LOL-language or memelicious slang. You know, if that's appropriate.
I will probably like whatever you take the time and effort to write for me: thank you for doing this, Yuletide writer!
Just a few notes on things I do not like: I do not like rape-centric fiction, heavily-detailed BDSM scenes, characters who don't act like themselves, or actual-end-of-the-world fic.
The Sandman
My favorite siblings of the Endless are Dream, Death, and Delirium, though I find something compelling about the entire family. Yes, even Despair. I have no feel for what sort of story would most intrigue me concerning them all, but I can say that romance would be a very tough sell for me if directly involving any of the Endless. Also, I do prefer Morpheus to Daniel. Actually, I'm struck suddenly by how intriguing and absurd it might be to read "A Very Endless Christmas."
Lady Gaga
Write something as indulgent, ridiculous, and symbolic as Lady Gaga's music videos and I'll be well-pleased... especially if it also doubles as self-conscious, ironic commentary.
You could spin a Gagaesque narrative out of one her songs that doesn't have a video, change one of her existing video narratives, or continue the story of any of the videos.
In case this is helfpul, here are my current favorite songs from The Fame and The Fame Monster: "Just Dance," "LoveGame," "Paparazzi," "Poker Face," "Starstruck," "Bad Romance," "Alejandro," "Monster," "Dance in the Dark," and "Telephone."
Eureka
Scientific madness, er, experimentation run amok is a must! I don't care where in the series it is set, or even which timeline. I mean that, any timeline from the show (or beyond the show, if you wish) is fair game - just make it quintessentially Eureka! And also wintry. I don't know why, but I do favor a Yuletide-in-Eureka story. Also, about that timeline thing: Stark would be a worthy character, because he's just such an as-- er, special guy. Great for the snarky dialogue. (I am not into the Carter/Stark pairing, though.)
S.A.R.A.H.-interaction always cracks me up, and I do love Fargo. I'm also fond of Carter, Allison, and Henry. Nathan Stark is very pretty and very snarky.
Pushing Daisies
A winter-themed Pushing Daisies fic would be nice, and I would be especially delighted if you could affect the voice of the Narrator as appropriate. I'm also interested in Olive/Ned and a point in the storyline where that's a viable possibility. Whimsy is key!
