The owner of the car did try to persuade me that driving more than half a mile in it would be something of an ordeal, it being tiny and pathetic. One suspects he worries about depreciation.
We may need to leave a beanbag or two behind.

Oh. While I was writing that, the garage phoned me to reiterate that it must not, ever, ever, ever be taken onto the mainland. This is odd.
He also implied that the car would fall over and die with exhaustion if anyone tried to drive it more than about three miles.

The most difficult drive was one Christmas morning on the way to my grandparents, when it was snowing quite heavily. As few other cars had been that way before us, they had not cleared the carriageway, only made two parallel lines in the snow. The back wheels happily went along in these, but the front wheel had to plough through the uncleared snow, bumping the whole front of the car up and down quite alarmingly!
