I've just been checking the local newspaper's compilation of local travel related tweets, in order to find out if the route we plan to drive later is still closed by floods and/or landslides. I came across this nice encouraging tweet from the police

LOL!! Yes, suddenly those doom warnings seem a little less doomful!!

Though really, people are ignoring and even removing road closed signs? There really are people that stupid in the world? *shakes head*

I've met a number of frenchmen who regard "Road closed" as a challenge (or personal affront) when driving. I don't think I ever saw one remove one, though; they accepted that other people might need the warning, even as they grudgingly backed out past it because there was a huge trench across the road ten feet on....
