Denise has promised to me in touch with her mentor anthropologist/therapist. It seems quite silly to me to send students at any level (or even professionals for that matter) into the field without any kind of skills for coping with culture shock, alienation, and the just generally awful or heartbreaking things one might run into, or purposely be seeking out.
Maybe since we're the experts on 'culture' we're not supposed to have these problems. If anthropology is a science, it's tools are still human, and how can we work properly is we're not given the means to care for ourselves?
