I just talked to mom again.
The eye of the storm is right over Cozumel but it doesn't mean things are as calm as you would expect. But it is a real blessing that I can still contact them. They're halfway through the hurricane but that doesn't mean it's over. On an island that has an elevation around 10 ft, they are expecting storm surges from 7 to 11 feet and waves from 15 to 35 feet high. Not to mention that the winds reach 140 mph. Mom wants me to find a prediction of what to expect for how long the hurricane will be there, but I can't find any right now. Since the storm is only running at 5 mph, it will be hanging around for a while.
It’s amazing that every time I talk to mom, things turn out worse. But at least I can talk to them.
