I can't remember the last time someone other than me wrote a ficlet for one of my characters.
Not to be whiny, just...I miss that. I miss the days when some of the kids and I used to trade ficlets on a regular basis. I've had really rotten days that were made surprisingly better by a surprise ficlet. I'd like to get back to that, if at all possible.
Speaking of ficlets, I finally wrote one. Posted the last installment today. If you're curious, there's stuff about that under here.
It was for my
100_prompts table for my Brutality cop, Sarah. I have a hard time finding inspiration to write about Sarah these days, even though I have the table obligation to drag me along. She doesn't get much action anymore, and seeing as she used to be one of my best characters, that makes me sad but there's not too much I can do about it. She just sort of sits in my head and looks at me like she expects to be entertained, and I've got nothing for her.
But I dredged up an old idea I'd had and never utilized, and the result was knocking out seven of my thirty prompts at one go (you can do that if you use one prompt per chapter, and the chapters will stand alone decently). I even felt compelled to make art for the story. If you're interested to see the first thing I actively wanted to write in over a month, just click on the art piece to go to the first part, from which you'll find a link to the second, and so on.
