I wonder if there is some way you can guilt the kids into a confession? That's terrible news, and I'm glad you seem to be looking on the bright side as much as you can...
well, we don't know WHICH kids to even talk to, and there are A LOT. THe neighbors said that they are so bummed for us, and are having THEIR kids keep an eye out.
What if you sat all the kids down and were like "we are SO SAD. We cannot afford to buy new ipods etc. and we were saving up for a very long time. It was my christmas present. We are just going to keep hoping that our stuff will come back, like on our doorstep. And if it does, then we won't press charges."
?? kids get scared and think you might be onto them.
I wonder if it would be worth going to the kids' friends' houses and talking to their parents about if their kid suddenly has a new ipod or mac mini that they never had before. Kids are also bad at hiding stuff!
This is horrible news, honey. I'm so glad neither of you were home.
Why not speak to the parents of the nice kids, and see if they will point you in the direction of some other parents. If it's really kids, they probably don't have a way to dispose of your stuff-- so maybe one of the other parents noticed that their kid has some new fancy gizmo. I sure hope you can recover those photos-- what a heart-breaking loss.
You know, that's what sent me into hysterics. E took Tues off and was just puttering around the house all day. The thought that anything could have happened to him, or the thought of waking up to someone standing over us...it makes the stuff just STUFF. I have to remember that or I get so sad.
i think you should put signs in the neighborhood pleading for the pictures back, and saying 'return the stuff no questions asked.' it might make them feel bad.
honestly, i just want to move on. E's talking about buying a security camera, etc, etc. I just want to be over it. I don't like the attitude that breeds, having a camera. Advertising we trust no one. I thought about signs too, but let's say someone DID return the stuff. We would turn them in. It's too hard not to. But if no one does...it would just make me disheartened about people, and I don't want that, as Anne Frank as that sounds. I couldn't deal with the false hope. It's strange. At first it was about the stuff. Now, it's about the violation. The stuff is just stuff, does that make sense?
