The Evil One was bored today, seriously bored. the man called me no less than three times in the space of a couple of hours. the first one was to tell me his trip up to IA for Gamma Con was off, since Sam was going to have to work open to close at the Mills store today & not be able to get down to the south county store to get the merchandise he wanted to bring up to IA. That means, I will have the Evil One camped out on my other couch over the weekend as usual. LC will be begging for his Gooshy Food, I am sure. :p
Second call - he's up in St. Charles now watching all the idiots sliding off the road right & left and is looking at gas prices now. So, he blathers on that he's going to check in w/ the Mother Unit & see if his work-around for her Quicken problem was working.
Minutes later, he calls back - Mother Unit has other stuff she's still working on and then says it will have to wait, because Grandma R. died today.
Oh lovely.... well, can't say as that it's unexpected - I've been waiting for that call since oh gee, September, when they said she was now suffering from congestive heart failure. She basically had retreated into her own little world and was living off an IV and morphine drops the last few months here.
So, at 95 years of age, Paula Reckel has left this life. Hopefully now she will be at peace and maybe happier in her next life. She was a very nasty woman in later years after Grandpa R. turned out to be a rotten bastard and ran out on the family way back in the 60's - she would get great enjoyment out of stirring up fights between my dad's sisters and they would always turn to him (and, my mother, who ended up screening the calls) to complain about who had apparently done/said what.
I loved my Grandma, but damn if she was not a nice person in that respect.
Okay, housework must be done! I have done nothing all day except to hang out on the couch and attempt to take a nap (which the Evil One interrupted! Bah!)
