Reading other blogs???? *sniff* ;-) LJ has been absolutely wonderful for finding old friends, and keeping in touch with people far away (both geographically and chronologically). That's a large reason why I originally jumped on board.
Dad update in a nutshell - He's home. And in good spirits. And slowly improving, bit by bit, day by day. He's an excellent example of how different parts of the brain manage different processes - his speech and handwriting is somewhat impaired... unless he's talking about or writing music. Then all is near flawless (except for the oddity that sometimes he seems to default to the key of concert B flat - he'll whistle or play the correct note, but name it in the transposed key. Of course, the only people to notice this/figure this out were Dad and my sister while they were scoring a piece of music for the last brass band concert.) :-) I'm planning to visit soon - hopefully in the next couple of weeks, so long as there isn't another unexpected vehicle repair eating the ticket money.

OK - so it was a big nutshell. :-)
