[Voice// Action] 010

[If you'd been anywhere near the border this past week, you may have heard, and seen, a loud ruckus caused by one seriously not-happy alien mama. Sephiroth disappeared just as she was beginning to latch back onto his mind again, and having him suddenly torn from her grasp--no, that hasn't made her happy ( Read more... )

[Guess who's drawn toward the music. And doesn't know Jenova in anything but a very vague "mother" sense yet.]

(ooc: Does she have permission to pick his brain a little? Bits and pieces of his past and some current thoughts is what she'd be going for.)

[Her song jerks to an abrupt ending as she senses his approach--he feels enough like the other Cloud to make her just this side of nervous, but enough other for her to recognize that he's not. She watches him steadily for a moment.]

Greetings, bright one.

[It helps that his hair's been dyed, although now that time's passed his roots are starting to show again. And yep, permission to pick his mind just a bit; she can see the Hollow Bastion crew--who look startingly like Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie and Cid and even have their names, with a more unfamiliar Leon as a bonus, and of course, the double of Sephiroth. ...As for current thoughts, he currently has birthday cake. From Tifa.]

Cloud. [He finds being called "bright one" so strange.] ...What are you? [...he's blunt.]

[Curiouser and curiouser; she tilts her head and watches him owlishly for a moment.]

Cl-o-oud... same and yet not same. Your world... worlds, they are not ones I have ever known. There is no trace of my legacy-cells-power, no taste of mako to your skin, and yet you are... strong.

[she shakes her head]

I am Mother. I am what they call the calamity, the goddess, the ultimate monster.

[And she'll have a Martel sitting by her pretty soon. As soon as the song's over:] What troubles you, Jenova?

[That's the thing with having sensitive friends, they always seem to know when all things go wrong. Jenova rests the pipes gently in her lap and shakes her head.]

They have taken him. My son. The Malnosso have taken him, even as he fought them.

[She motions to the Community Housing Building 3 not all that far away, one of the walls of the apartments still blown clean through.]

Where is our strength that they can do such things to us?

[She follows Jenova's gesturing with her gaze.] Our strength is in their hands. As are our weaknesses.

[A pause, and she's turning back.] I'm sure he fought valiantly.

[she laughs bitterly] Foolish use of strengths! To have such power, to bring low even the mightiest among us, and yet they do not seek to use what weapons they cache.

[Not that she thinks much of being used, but that their masters don't even try makes her wonder what purpose the Malnosso have for them when the usual ones don't apply.

She smiles though, at Martel's words regarding Sephiroth. A proud, approving smile.]

Until the last. There is no fear in him. That was long burned away alongside his mortality.

Your son was a fool to offer a piece of you to me...

[frowning, even through the journals; hint of uncertainty]

You are different from the others.

[Omnipresent vocal smirk]

I am a composite being, with total cellular control. I am not vulnerable like the ones you used this on befor-r-r-r-re...

[short laugh]

More and more alike, you and I. Were we as we were, who would prevail, little sand king?

(Just to make sure, she can poke around a little in his canon too, yes?)

[another laugh, this time angry] They will try and try, but the outcome will be no different. I have made him as I was made. One that will never fall without rising once again.

He will obey. [she does not say what else she thinks: that he must]

If you know all this, then why do you worry in his absence? If you're certain he's to return, as strong as ever..

[a frown]

Because there is always the possibility of defeat. Because they might keep him where he is, now and forever, locked away from me. And I cannot have that.

There is too much left for him to do.

He will return. Second-guessing what you know in your heart to be true does nothing but worry you.

[she laughs]

And such things they say of me, I know. I hear them too, sometimes. But opinions are facts in the right hands-hearts-heads, and to believe in themselves they cannot believe in others.

[she shrugs at the title though the pride's unavoidable]

I take what names have been given me, bright one. They called me many things, once.

[all of the above is positively lucid for her; she really is taking a concentrated interest in him]

Facts don't change with just words. [Hearts and hands, though...] Getting people to act on what they believe...

But not any more?

[He should be backing off, but there is an admittably morbid curiosity, knowing she's connecting to Sephiroth, the other Cloud, this "Kadaj".]

[The light of her eyes flickers.]

You know what it is they call me now. Truths may not change, but perceptions do-can-will.

[she shakes her head]

So different, so much the same. You hate him too, do you not? The dark angel.

I'm going to kill him. The one from Radiant Garden.

[Luceti's Sephiroth...Cloud just wants to avoid as long as he's not doing anything.]
