Ugh, big revision/edit time....
bre2004 did a MASSIVE edit job on my manuscript, so now I not only wrote up one of my alternate endings for it to show to several people and get opinions, I get to go through the nitpicky stuff now. Word usage, grammar, take this sentence out, put more here, all that good stuff. I just finished the first chapter though, so one down, fifty-nine to go.
The editing process is so fucked up. As much as a person says they can handle constructive criticism, when it comes down to it, you still look at things like this as your baby and freak out over certain aspects. At least I do. I sat for about four hours yesterday working to convince myself that everything she wrote to me is all to be helpful. It's not like she's going to take a shitload of time (because she REALLY did a very detailed awesome job) just to trash me.
Besides, getting to revisit my characters is SO much fun, especially the alternate ending. I remember when I finished the first rough draft and was just depressed because it was done after I had worked on it for about a year and a half.
Rant over. Back to the editing process...
