~* Make a post to your LJ with a list of twelve holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and interest-related ("I'd love a icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for new stamp sets") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
~* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.
~* Surf around your LJ to see who has posted a list. And now here's the important part:
~* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
~* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy.
~* There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
I'm going to keep this to material things, since so far as I'm aware, my more existential hopes and wishes are not grantable by anybody else. :) Also, these are all things I will eventually get for myself, it's just a question of a fair bit of time and other priorities being covered before I do.
1. Amazon.com gift certificates to put towards the new camera, hopefully in January sometime.
2. hard-soled, full-footed sheepskin slippers. I used to get a pair of Uggs every few years from my mom in this style, but they evidently only make the stupid mule-style ones that leave your heels open, now. Buttheads. (something like
these would be good, but I'm not fixated on a brand, just want hard soles and full-to-ankle ones. I wear between 8.5 and a 9, so anything in that range for slippers is probably good.)
3. Melodia pants. I've been dancing for a few years now and still haven't gotten around to getting even one pair. (although I covet many.) Ideally, I'd want to
start with basic black, and then get
indigo,
espresso brown, and
red thereafter. (I sigh for
the Icarus pants, too, but they'd be down the list on cost alone.)
4. 30-ish assorted skeins (all in different colorways, if possible) of
Noro's Kureyon wool yarn. (not the new sock version -- the regular weight version) so that I can make a
Lizard Ridge afghan for our new bed. (That first link is not ALL the colorways available in the yarn, it's just one of the better sources for price.) My current plan for this project is to purchase 2 skeins per month for the next year, so there you go.
5. Points you don't think you'll use for hotel (holiday inn express) or airfare (anybody who flies to Oakland or San Francisco, CA), which I'd use to help subsidize trip to Tribal Fest in May.
6. A waffle maker. :)
round or
square, I don't care. ~und now is time on Schprockets ven ve dance.~
7.
Discovery/BBC box set of Planet Earth and Blue Planet DVDs together in one pack. ~drool~
8.
Forbidden Lego book -- because DUDE! SRSLY! SO COOL!
9. Edited to add -- Gift certificates to Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab! Can't believe I forgot that.
And really I think that's it. (rather plenty, in fact.) :)
