Christmas holiday over. Back to the slave mines tomorrow. I have to get up at 5:30. I'm really, really not liking this.
So, this sort of surprised me: I'm writing a post-HBP, post-war, insanely long Colin Creevey/Dean Thomas angst!fic. I'm not even a third of the way done and it's like 2000 words already. So not like me. I never know what I'm going to write. My writing process is I don't have one. I just sort of feel like writing, and do it. And let me tell you, weird, weird stuff pops out, man. I once wrote a 1250 word Remus/Sirius non-con bondage piece with various fairytale imagry; just out of the blue. I never have a plan to what I'm going to write, and only sometimes do I even have an idea, a situation or image. I usually just go, you know? How do you write?
And one thing I've never been too sure about- how do you get a beta? I know it's usually just asking a friend to do it for you, but I don't have any in the HP fandom. I've never really gotten to know anyone online. I don't email or IM them, so I've never really gotten feedback or editing on any of my fic before posting them. I don't have any fic in particular in mind at the moment, but I've worried a little bit in the past about whether or not I should make a random plea to get beta on something before posting it. I'm just generally confused about all this. Help?
Also, I've never done one of these snaps cup thingies before. Go
say things about me! Then check
this out. Toothpaste For Dinner is AWESOME!!
And take some of this music I'm currently obsessed with. It's real good shit, I swear:
Birds vs. Worms - Modest Mouse
Our Secret - Beat Happening
Institutionalized - Suicidal Tendencies
Lets Dance - David Bowie
