Very. Sick. Of. Tradesmen.

For the last two weeks we've been having people come in and give quotes for X, Y and Z to renovate the house pre-sale. Two electricians, three plasterers (the first guy three hours late on all three quote-visits), a tree guy, a blinds guy, a doors/fittings guy ... that's fine, it all needs doing, though it's probably made me an extra 25% less productive lately. That's right, I'm now sitting on -25% productivity.

This week, no more quotes and measurements. Oh no. This week is the building and cutting and sawing and plastering and moving. There is no sleep for indolent ex-Arts students who insist on staying up late. There is no quiet for half-motivated writers to edit things at any great speed. There is no opportunity for total slobs to mooch around the house in PJs and a dressing-gown because it's warmer that way.

Again, it needs doing, and I probably wouldn't be half as frustrated if it weren't for the fact that our neighbours have also been building and cutting and sawing at -their- place for the last three weeks. I have been editing the same three chapters for over a month. I cannot concentrate. Stop sawing things in bits, world, I ABJURE THEE.

... I love that word. When did we lose it, dammit? XD

I also absentmindedly failed to account for my mum's permanent private timezone today.

MUM: Would you mind getting up at 8am tomorrow to help your father move things?
ME: Argh! 8am? ... I mean ... yes, I'm always up by then.
MUM: Well, you can sleep in until 8:30 if you want.
ME: Okey-dokey. *silent Arts student screaming*

(the next day)

ME: Msfjgl.
DAD: Sorry?
ME: Want me to help you move things?
DAD: Oh, yes, Fishy, but not just yet. I have to take down all these architraves.
ME: Okey-dokey.

(11:30am)
DAD: Can you help me move things now?

... XD

In less noisy news, tonight I go forth to see Grudge II with my sister's holidaying bf and his brother. Whee! The weather is freezing and rainy and windy and generally Le Crapola, but at least that's horror weather ;D

I offered to call in a terrorist threat at my sister's hospital, but she declined. (Don't laugh. Someone actually did that at one of the Tas Uni examinations this year. Reject.) Plus the movie would probably be finished by the time she flew over, too. :(
